too soon for increase in spiro?

I don't think it's too soon, but I also have only been on it for a month. My Derm told me to start out at 50 mg for 2 weeks and then go up to 100 mg and stay there until my follow-up (in 2 months). I decided to go against her orders and go up to 75 mg just because I feel like I am experiencing the side effects pretty harshly so I want to slowly reach 100 mg.
  2. I am having the same problem with tiny pimples on my chin and around my mouth area. It's been going on for 2 months and I am on spiro in hopes that it'll help. I have only been on spiro for about a month now (starting at 50 mg and now on 75 mg) but so far no luck. These tiny bumps will just NOT go away - I get about 5 a day. I am also using RAM and am on Yaz - but nothing is helping. The rest of my face is clear.
  3. I have a great derm in the suburbs right outside of Chicago, if you are willing to commute about 35 minutes. I have also been to the Skin Care Center in the medical center on Halsted if you are interested in that information please message me!
  4. I have been on Taz (trying all 4 formulations) for 2 years. Well, after being clear for a year and a half it completely stopped working and I am back to where I started. My derm gave me .04 Retin-A-Micro and I just started using it a couple days ago. My question is - if RAM is a less aggressive therapy than Taz then why would she give this to me if I am already not responding to Taz? Has anyone used both and had better results with one over the other? Need some hope that RAM might work!
  5. Has anyone used a retinoid long-term and then switched to another with success? Is there another initial breakout when you switch? I have been on Taz for 2 years and my derm recently told me to switch to Retin A-Micro to see if I would respond better to a different form of Vitamin A. Anyone do this with success?
  6. I have been on Tazorac for 2 years - and about 3 months ago it stopped working. I was pretty much entirely clear after 3 months on Tazorac and stayed entirely clear for over a year and a half (with the odd hormonal breakout here and there) and then started breaking out. A lot. Has anyone had a retinoid stop working after long-term use? I was under the assumption that retinoids were designed for long-term use.
  7. I might try calling your doctor's office and seeing if they can give you some samples to hold you over until you can either get in to see him/her or until you can get your prescription. That is what I do when I am in-between appointments or am in need of a refill. The office is usually pretty accomodating.
  8. Hey folks. I haven't been on here in a long time - mostly because I have been clear for so long. To sum up my experiences I have been on Tazorac since July 2009. I had amazing success with Tazorac and was basically clear between August 2009 and February 2011 (with some seasonal breakouts). I would go months without a single breakout. Well, starting in February I started breaking out and it's non-stop. Everyday I wake up with more and more breakouts, and at 28, it's more difficult to recove

    Temporarily stopping BC

I haven't posted on here in quite a while as my skin has been relatively clear for about 6 months. A little backstory - my acne began at 25 and was pretty moderate for nearly a year. I was on several different topicals and antibiotics but eventually got clear using Tazorac. My question is - my acne started when I temporarily went off of BC and even when I went back on BC I couldn't get my acne under control until the retinoids helped. So, again, I have to go off of birth control for about 6

    New to Tazorac

So I think it's been almost a year that I have been on Tazorac now. And it had been going wonderfully for about the past 6 months. No breakouts to speak of (a couple here and there) but about a week ago I started breaking out way more than usual and keep waking up with new breakouts every day - which I haven't really experienced since I started using Taz last year. Is it possible that the bacteria have found a way around Taz? Or do you think it's just a fluke (menstruation, stress, etc)? An

    New to Tazorac

So it has now been almost 18 weeks on Taz and for some reason I am experiencing the worst breakout I have had since before I started Taz. I have red bumps all over and it seems like all my pores are clogged. I have not changed anything in my routine so I don't know WHAT is happening. I am freaking out. This happen to anyone else??? I have been super stressed this past week and it's my lady times so I don't know if that has something to do with it. I am freaking out!!!
  12. You CANNOT use Duac in conjunction with Tazorac at the same time. You can use Duac in the morning and Tazorac at night but not together. BP renders Tazorac inactive so basically if you are putting Duac on with Tazorac you are wasting your time because the Taz is inactivated. I have been on Taz for 16 weeks and it's not the miracle drug some people claim it to be but it is keeping me pretty clear. I also use Duac in the morning. Oh, and a salicylic face wash is not going to replace a retinoi
  13. I have been on taz for 14 weeks now. I am still getting breakouts but not really bad breakouts - mostly small clogged pores every few days. It wasn't until around the 12th week that my skin became slightly predictable. I have all four concentrations and I find that I can just not tolerate the gel - it is far too harsh on my skin - even if I only use it once a week in rotation with the cream. So I have been alternating between the .5 cream (3 days a week), the .1 cream (3 days a week), and th

BFCalumni26 - how is RAM going? How long has it been now? I have to tell you - I think I am having better results by applying Taz directly to my skin. I have been breaking out a bit less - although now that it has started to get cold here my skin is getting drier already.

BFCalumni26 - I really hope RAM is the med for you. I don't know too much about RAM but I know my mom tried it a few years ago and she didn't like it at all so now she uses Finacea. It's funny because I was also wondering about applying it directly to the skin a few days ago. I wondered if maybe it would work better....so I started applying it without moisturizer first the past few days. I can't really tell the difference yet so I will try it for a few weeks and see how it goes. I also star
