Scarring from Subcision?

7 posts in this topic

Hello all,

Hopefully some of you can help!

I just subcision today and am worried that the entry points of the needle may scar.

I had a 1cm by 1 cm area subcised and he entered from TWO points. He switched between the entry points, re-entering them multiple times, around 2-3 each.

Is it common during a subcision to re-enter the needle into same entry points, like my doctor had done?

Thanks,

Yes it is common for them to re-enter the same hole, as it allows them to poke in different directions and angles from the same incision point. This is better than filling your face with holes for EVERY single scar. Davin Lim actually uses this technique where he will go in and out in different directions in the same incision.

The needle holes are small and do not scar except in very rare cases.

What type of needle did the doc use? Also what size? I think Nokor starts from 16-gauge, which is pretty thick. Most use either 18 or 20 for subcision. Hypodermic needles are much thinner so there's no concern for scarring.

Be that as it may, even if you're left with, say, 2 scar pits from the incision, think of all the OTHER scars that will be filled. :)

ehh there's only a single 1cm x 1cm rolling scar that was lifted... i heard the scars breaking up.

But ugh, I think my derm proceeded to be overly eager after I busted out my phone to record the subcision a minute into the procedure... He was probably thinking " OMG, cameras, lights, action!"" hopefully i didn't push him into doing the subcision overly aggressive. Time will tell.
