  1. Ok, so I have barely ever had actual pimples, but I've had these red dots on my skin, they don't hurt, I've had this kind of thing since I was 11. I've tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work.
  2. Is this a broken capillary on my nose? Thanks for any help.

  3. Take vitamin D and K to begin with, that will help rebalance your retinoids. Anxiety is probably one of the main causes, as Accutane completely messes up your stress and sex hormones, so right now your body probably feels a tonne of stress. People who take such a limited dose recover much better, and one of my friends took 80mg for 15 months and he is good now, though it knocked him around for a fair bit.

One of the ironic things about accutane is it makes your body react poorly to stress, then creates a fuckton of it.

    My full recovery advise is:
"Buy creatine, fish oil, coq10, zinc, multivitamins and a decent protein powder, take the recommended dosages for all of these, and try to meditate for 20 minutes a day"(if its early days take some k2 and vitD as well, that will get your retinoids in check post tane)

Anyway, even if you are a random healthy male the things I've recommended would only improve your health, all would probs be available if you went to your local discount chemist
  4. On my cheek I noticed there was the slightest bump so I tried messing with it even tho nothing came out ever. The bump couldn’t be seen unless you like went really close to the mirror and moved the skin. But I thought maybe it was a pimple forming with no head yet and it would come out so I messed with it more but I noticed time passed and nothing came out so I let it be but now I just have this red thing on my cheek that won’t go away. The pimple never formed a head and it doesn’t hurt it just feels a bit different from the surrounding skin like tender. Any tips on what can help the redness or heal it. I feel maybe with my long nails I injured my skin..? Or could it be something else. Also it’s been about 2 weeks
  5. So yesterday I was browsing an old log that said to put desitin (diaper rash cream) on your face to get rid of acne and red marks. So me being tired trying everything from seaweed to vinegar wanderd over to the baby section of CVS. They had the desitin but I decided to take a chance and go a gentle route. I bought a baby wash, the desitin, and a baby moisturizer. These have oats, Aloe Vera, and calendula which have anti inflammatory soothing properties. When I got home I used the wash, a gentle toner that I had lying around, the moisturizer, and finally the desitin. When I woke up this morning I was SHOOK. That giant comadone that I had been furiously rubbing stubborn acne gel on (for a week 2 times a day) was gone. I have been using acne products for over a year so maybe that is what was aggravating my skin. It's only day 1 but I'll update you on my progress

  8. Pile Cream/Haemorrhoid Ointment Just to let you all know, im a 17 year old lad from England. Ive had every cream, wash, & scrub man can make and nothing has really helped me. Ive had been on 3 different kinds of anti bitoics for my acne and ive been recently reffered to a dermatalogist. Anyway, i was told to try pile cream for my spots so i thought what have i got to loose. Went to Bargain Buys (Discount UK) and bought a tube for £1. Ive been using it for 3 days and i dont wanna get my hopes up too quick but its working wonders. Ive just had a massive breakout over the last week. Like were talking worst its ever been you could do dot to dot on my face. But with this cream My pores are less apparant, its got anti inflammatory so its reduced the size of my existing spots, Put the healing process into over drive and makes my skin feel really soft i cant believe how quick its healing. If it keeps up ill buy £50 worth. Anyway if i were you id try it! Dont over do it though because it is quite oily so it might start to back fire. Absolutely recommend trying it. My daily routine: use clearasil cleansing liquid with a cotton pad to clean my face on a morning and take 2 erothmycin tablets (would highly recommend but their perscription only) then i cleanse again before bed, apply a thin layer of pile cream allover my face. Wait for it to soak in for abit, then put dots of sudocrem on my scabby spots Aswell and take another 2 erothmycin then about twice a week i exfoliate using a tea tree face scrub and once a week ill put a mud mask on. If you use clearasil cleanser like me, add about 10 drops of pure tea tree oil to the mix and shake it before you use it, natural aid for acne. hope this helps!
  9. I'm considering getting laser work done on my red marks leftover from acne. I do not have that much scarring but rather, red hyper-pigmentation marks. For whoever has gotten IPL done for red marks (not deep scars), what was your experience like? Did you see positive results? How much did you pay per session? Thanks!
  10. Hello. I'm a 13 year old girl in junior high, and obviously, I have severe acne scarring. Of all kinds, too. Box scars, rolling scars, ice pick scars, red scars, brown scars.... you name it. The worse part, is that it isn't even about zits anymore. All the treatments I see on here are STRICTLY for acne, whether it be red bumps or whiteheads. Nothing for my type of situation. And if there are, it's pretty much pointless since it's something that requires insurance like laser treatments or fillers. Nothing for a girl my age. I've dealt with this for 2 years now. I have absolutely NOBODY to talk to, my confidence has plummeted to the bottom of the Earth, and the teachers at school send me to the counselor because they think I have "social anxiety" no..... I just hate my face. I can't stand to show it to people. I can't stand to look in the mirror, if I do I start sobbing because of the wretched scars. Sometimes I even gag at the sight of them. Dermatologist I used to go to won't accept my insurance , so I have nothing. NOTHING. NOT A SINGLE THING TO HELP ME. I'm sorry if my little vent is bland or boring... I just needed to kinda get rid of it all.
  11. Does Clindamycin Phosphate Gel help fade red acne marks/inflammatory acne, or is it used for other types of acne? I use Tazorac at nighttime and it works really well to reduce redness overnight, but as SOON as I wash my face and apply Clindamycin, it ruins everything. I will say it DOES work for clearing up whiteheads on my forehead (my forehead is almost 100% clear im so happy ) ...but for my cheeks it just makes it this awful blood-red color, plus this horrendous itching that won't go away until I wash my face at night to apply my second medication. So once again, is Clindamycin not used for PIH/red marks? Should I just use Tazorac for my cheeks? Please help, I would greatly appreciate it!
  12. So I really don't know what to do I've improved my diet and everything and now my right cheek is like this! AHA seems to make my marks darker and purple and I took these photos right after using it so no more AHA for me, my right cheek doesn't even look bad when its direct light straight on but when I turn my head the light makes it looks way worse and when I back up and look into the mirror it looks really weird and these pics make it looks really bad, I want to fix this while im young but how? it feels flat but I can see some slight slight indents yet it looks so bad! I did poke my skin with a sewing needle to drain a cyst (REALLY Stupid I wish I knew ) The holes left behind from the needle are barely indented yet look so bad and in the mirror everything looks flat except a very very small intent in some spots and the holes! What should I do? Derma roller or stamp *Banish Kit* (look it up if your not sure what it is) or? Could it be an illusion from the redness? Thank you for all the help just really down and have noone to help me besides this forum! Thanks again!
  13. I have beaten acne! I have no active pimples but need to remove the red marks, tretinoin is working too slow and I need them gone by school pictures, here's my progress from February when I started my regimen. What's the best treatment?! Laser ,chemical peels, I have no clue, please help!
  14. I have really bad post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, they're basically huge red marks on my face. I've tried everything and nothing seems to help reduce it. I know it's going to take more than a couple weeks, but it's so embarrassing. It's even dry and flaking and I can't cover it up with concealer. Does anyone have any treatment, tips or suggestions? Please help!
  15. How can i delete my red marks? I'm really sad because I think that without these red marks, I wouldn't have acne because I have not so much active pimples, but only a lot of red marks that make the situation appear worse than what it really is. I've been using benzoyl peroxide for a year (and I still use it), topical isotretinoin (isotrex) for 3 months and it gave me only a terrible initial breakout, and now I'm using topical tretinoin (retin-a 0.05%) How can I delete these horrible red marks? Will tretinoin really help? Should I stop to use all these creams (thaT DIDN'T HELP ME ?????) Please help me, an advice.. something! Thank you!
  16. Why Does Moisturizer Make My Skin Burn?

    Forums Oily skin 11 replies

Please Help Me. I cant figure out why all moisturizers cause my skin to feel like it's burning. I use: Cetaphil Cleanser 5% Benezol Peroxide (Which the directions say to wash off and I do) I then use either Cetaphil Moisturizer or Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear. Both of which cause the aforementioned effect. I can't figure out why as soon as I put on moisturizer, even the Cetaphil one which is supposedly meant for "Sensitive or Dry Skin" ,causes my face to start burning. My skin has also become extremely dry and oily, and moisturizer seems to be making it worse. Maybe it is an ingredient? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Long story short, I had a cystic pimple on my right cheek in January. I picked on it miserably to no avail. It went through the same healing stage as a regular cyst. (Pimple, lump, dark mark) but what puzzles me is it is still there right now. It looks like your normal post acne red mark from far but occasionally, I would feel sort of like a tiny lump under the skin where it used to be. It never came to a head and looks like the plug is too deep under the skin. It would scab over a few times and there would be dead skin over it which would come off by itself or sometimes as I wash my face. I am currently applying clindamycin and differin on it every night and seems to be improving by a bit. I went to a derm yesterday to ask for a cortisone shot but he said that it is too small. Will this eventually go away or will the content of the cyst need to lanced/extracted out for the skin to heal properly? Anyone with experience, please help. This is driving me nuts. Almost 8 months now!!!!!!
  18. Need Help - Hormonal?

Forums General acne discussion 6 replies

Hey guys, I haven't had really bad acne until the beginning of my senior year in high school, and it seems to only get worst. At the beginning of college this year I was doing alright until winter break, but during the break I've seemed to break out on my cheeks and it seems to not have gone away yet. Here's a pic: That's not the worst part. The front of my face looks horrid and I do not know what treatment will work best. It just hurts to look at it in the mirror every morning and it hasn't gone away in a really long time. And these red marks that are bleeding are a result of lemon juice which I have applied for the last month, but that thing that concerns me is that although this acne does heal, they always leave dark marks or red spots that I can never get rid of even though I don't pick at it. Most of the redness on my face I don't feel bumps, but they're just dark spots that NEVER ever go away. Any advice on products I should use?
  19. I would have these very nasty cysts that would show up on my face. Whenever i have a pimple, i just put some salyclic acid cream and after a few days it would get smaller. Cystic pimples on the other hand... never go away by putting salyclic acid. Is this true for everyone else? The only way for my cystic pimple to go away is to actually pop it. However i dont pop it intentionally. I would cleanse my face with a cleanser and eventually after washing my face a few days with a cleanser... the cyst would break and thus bleed and you see a huge red mark and the area is very red. What should you put on it? Is neosporin good? People say put neosporin because it would heal the wound but that means that the red mark would still be there right? I read some post how someone popped a pimple and then put neosporin and then a bandage on it and they didn't get any red mark/scabbing. Is this true or false b/c that doesn't really make any sense. Because if a pimple is popped and its bleeding you see a mark there. Well for my situation, its never a pimple that bleeds... its a cystic pimple that bleeds when i cleanse my face. I posted it on this section b/c i know this type of pimple im talking about is cystic pimple. What should i put on it immediately? Or should i not put anything? Also has anyone heard about this product called acne NEXCARE where you put it on a popped pimple and stick it to the face after pimple is popped? Does anyone knows if this works for a cystic pimple that gets popped? Again i do not intentionally pop these cystic pimple but the only way to get rid of them is to pop it and i do it unintentionally when i cleanse my face and the cystic pimple eventually bleeds a lot. Anyone care to share what is the best option and what product to use? I actually heard ppl say vaseline is good idea? Im very curious about the neosporin and bandage but isn't using a bandage not a good idea? I mean it does sound good but is it?
  20. Accutane - Month 4

Forums Prescription acne medications 6 replies

I'm 2 weeks into month 4 and I'm still breaking out. I'm still getting white heads and recently started to get blackheads which I never got before I took accutane. My face is covered in red marks, and my face just looks a LOT worse.. I'm also feeling VERY depressed which u have fine through your my course, i think taking accutane might have been my worse decision yet.. I'm feeling more paranoid than ever about my face + carnt even look people in the eye and I hate looking in the mirror :\ Also when I wash my face it always always makes my face look worse. Iv got every single cleanser + moisurizer there is and everything makes it look worse and red, when I don't wash or put anything on my face it looks slightly better but then it's covered in dry skin? (Sorry for the rant)
  21. This is the current state of my skin: It's kind of super up-close and I tried to turn on my lamp so I could get better I apologise for the orangey-ness. My main acne spots are my cheeks. I have clear skin on my "T-zone" for the most part...except for some blackheads on my nose sometimes, but compared to my cheeks I hardly even notice it. I have a LOT of acne scarring - sad to say this is actually a lot better than what my acne used to be like a few years ago. I've tried a bunch of different topical treatments and nothing has really worked all that well for me. I've been using BP for years now with different cleansers and I find that it keeps my acne under control, but definitely doesn't clear anything up. I occasionally use the mud masks from Borghese which I find help to clear some acne spots. I have had acne for about 10 years (I'm 22 now) and I have never taken any sort of drug treatment for acne. My mom never let me go see the doctor until I was about 16 but then my mom stopped bringing me because she said that the prescribed topical stuff was too expensive and not worth it . Since then I haven't really been able to find any products that work for me. I'm too afraid to go outside without any makeup on now, which I know is awful for my skin, but I have become so dependent on concealer that I will get panic attacks if I'm not wearing at least a little in public. I want to try to go to the dermatologist but i'm not sure how to get to their office with a naked face......I know it's pathetic. I just finished week 3 of the Regimen and I've been trying to follow the instructions as much as possible. I do tend to pick a lot but I've really kept my hands occupied at all times to make sure they don't just end up on my face again. I feel like I'm in the phase of "getting worse before it gets better" because halfway through week 2 I started breaking out a lot thus all the angry red marks on my cheek. But I don't know if I should hope that it will actually get better? Or is this "hormonal acne" which I'm not sure how to identify. Also, despite having acne for so long I don't know if this is cystic acne? I just miss having clear skin!
  22. Scars Along Jawline!

    Forums Scar treatments 6 replies

Okay, so I'm 19, male, English. I suffered from moderately severe acne that cleared over time, it was mainly active on my jawline and lower cheeks. I had tried every cream or prescription available but only time really helped. Some treatments caused rather nasty, almost cystic breakouts to occur that left me with some scarring on my jaw. Now when I say scarring, I do not mean post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (red marks, which I do also have), I mean actual scarring. It is really only visible in some light and worse at some angles, when looking at it directly it appears to have some pigmentation that I suspect makes it more noticeable and to appear deeper than it may be. I do not have the money for laser treatment or such and do not feel it that severe for surgery. What would people suggest? I have the option to start retin A if I want, but with very little active acne now I worry it may do more damage than good? Could retin A help my scars, marks or blackheads on my nose? Any help with anything I have discussed would be appreciated, Thanks guys!
  23. Can Someone Please Help (Pic)

Forums General acne discussion 6 replies

I've had acne for 4 years now (I'm 15), and I'm so, so sick of being the only kid in my group of friends with bad skin, being the kid that every family friend and relative tries to give suggestions and remedies to. I've tried so many over the counter products, natural "remedies", rituals, etc and nothing. is. working. As of now, I have angry red marks everywhere and deep under-the-skin pimples (not sure if its cystic acne) along a lot of my jawline. And the acne along my jawline will ITCH like crazy sometimes. What's weird is that my forehead and temples are now completely clear... I just wish the rest of my face was like that too. I have this really, really horrible problem of picking my skin... I'll pick dead, dry skin, whiteheads, scabs, anything, and I'll do it almost uncontrollably. I'm not trying to excuse my behavior, but sometimes I'll pick my face without even noticing... Oftentimes, I won't stop until I'm bleeding, and it's just horrible. It's probably why my acne looks like this right now, but I don't really know how to stop. A few months back, I went to my doctor, and he prescribed me minocycline tablets twice a day and 0.1% differin gel each night. I've stook to this religiously for the past 3 months, and I haven't seen improvement. My skin is a lot worse now, and my parents aren't letting me go back for another checkup :/ I'm still taking the minocycline, but only one capsule a night and I'm planning to use my differin until I run out of it. About three weeks ago I started on Whole 30, which is a dairy, gluten, added sugar, soy, legume free diet (and a bunch of other random prohibited stuff, like potatoes and corn). My skin hasn't really gotten better at all; I'm getting less new pimples but my face still looks like its ravaged, disgusting self. So... yeah I'm just really discouraged right now. Do you guys have any tips? On how to stop picking, what I should try, what I'm doing wrong, etc.
  24. Zinc Making Me Nauseous

Forums Diet & holistic health 6 replies

About a year ago, I bought some zinc supplements to take hoping it would reduce my acne and hyperpigmentation, since I'd always heard zinc was good for your skin. I was taking an antibiotic (bactrim -- it worked very well) at the same time. I always noticed after I took the pills, I would get a temporary nauseous feeling, or a feeling in my neck like I might have to throw up. I figured it was a side effect of the bactrim, and since it was tolerable and only lasted a few minutes, I ignored it. Well I recently got some bad pimples/cysts that left some pretty nasty red marks, so I started taking the zinc again hoping it will help my face. I noticed the nauseous feeling came back and realized it had been the zinc all along and not the antibiotic. I went online and found out this a pretty common side effect of zinc My question is, is this a sign.that I should stop taking it/it is doing more harm than good? Again, the feeling only lasts a few minutes at most and is mild enough to tolerate. I'm willing to keep tolerating it as long as it will help my acne/scars. By the way, I am now taking Azithromyacin (Zithromax?). I started taking it just over a month hasn't been very effective since I am still getting pimples/cysts. But the derm told me my acne could get worse before it gets better because it brings everything to the surface. I'm also using aczone in the morning and tazorac before I go to bed. If anyone was wondering, the derm pulled me off of bactrim after 8 months because it was making my white blood cell count low. It was a shame because my face was looking really clear (except for the red marks still lingering) by the time I got off it. Of course, within two weeks of going off it, my acne started coming back.
  25. I've been on the DKR for 7 weeks and I'm still getting breakouts. But the red marks are what I'm worried about. It makes my face look so much worse. Should I be waiting until my acne is totally clear before I start treating red marks? If I can start, what should I start treating them with? I'm not even really sure if these are red marks, that's just what it looks like to me. Take a look and let me know
