Tricia- Resnick is a great doctor at silicone because he has the artistic 'eye' combined with the right skill that good docs need to get good results. I know he's good because after only one round, I could see and feel the shallowing. I want additional resurfacing work to improve that 'beat up' look my skin still has in pictures and bad lighting. When I held the mirror at my doc's office after they wiped off the numbing cream and looked at my skin, I was shocked it still looked so bad. Every part of my face had evidence of acne scarring. I would love to have one of Dr Y's dermbrasions because I know it is supposed to be the best thing out there for what I'm pretty much left with at this point. Silicone definitely took care of the depth, which is definitely what you want to address first. I'm a tough critic as far as efficacy of acne scar treatments are concerned and I can say without reservations that silicone with Resnick was the best thing I've ever done so far. It's the only treatment that has really worked. Look up user BADKITTY onhere. She went to Resnick for silicone too and had scarring just like mine on one of her cheeks that was basically reduced to superficial-depth scarring, so I know it's not just me who's had the improvement. But, keep in mind the deeper your scarring is to begin with, the more noticeable the improvement. If you have shallow rolling scars, I'm not sure how these respond. I had a few injected yesterday, so we'll see.

I think ill give Dr Y's office a call tomorrow and see if he's still doing the dermbrasion, even at 80 years old probably.

Can anyone tell me if it is advisable to use a dermroller after silicone microdroplet? I'm afraid the needles puncturing the dermis will disrupt the placement of the silicone beads. I am very interested in trying this with my much shallower, yet still extensive scarring. Even with the good improvement ive seen, my skin still looks awful and beat up when I looked at my face through this handheld mirror at my derm's office today because I now have ALL OVER small scarring, some I never even knew I had until I looked at my face in that light. Even the scars that I just got a year ago that I thought I could get to disappear looked awful. I'm still pretty sad I let the additonal scarring happen by eating dairy again. Ive gone back to giving it up completely and my doc upped my dose to 80 mg's a day of accutane because I got this big pimple on my right cheek that will inevitably scar :( So sad now.

BTW, I had my second round but my doc only did 1/2 a cc and he got my forehead. I paid for a full cc though which kinda sucks that its sitting there in the syringe waiting to be injected into my face.

Total money spent so far on silicone with this doc is $1800

Money spent last September for DEEP FX is $2600

TOTAL MONEY OVER PAST YEAR IS $4400.

And my credit card balance is $3,500, which for me who never spends money on anything else is pretty devastating. It's the one thing in my life I could change is to reverse the damage acne has done to my skin. Guess the silicone took me from high anxiety to medium/light anxiety over my skin, which is better than nothing! I still have hope, if only I could ever get the breakouts to stop :( NO MORE DAIRY EVER EVER AGAIN! This will be hard.

Strange you got more scars from fractional. I had it done and it was a waste of money because it just didn't do anything for my scars. I did not even see a 10% depth reduction, even when combined with subcision, even on my newest, freshest scars I got a year ago. I do not feel like continuing given the extreme cost, so I am thiinking of revisiting silicone microdroplet. I will try the vastly more expereinced dr Resnick for this once I move to miami next week. For me, treating acne scarring has just been a losing battle. I can't seem to figure out why and when I get an occasional cyst and why it always leaves a permanent depressed scar that no multi-thousand dollar treatment can eradicate. My scarring just keeps getting worse. I don't just get the small little divots, I get those big, scooped out, saucers that you can see from 5 feet away in the light. Just got a big new one under my right ear earlier this year. It downright sucks, and i've struggled with the extreme lows/mirror/light reflections for over 10 years now, and the depression is escalating as my skin continues to scar and look worse in the light. People without this chronic condition just don't know how lucky they are, and to those who had acne and avoided scarring, man you just dodged a lethal bullet. It's eternal misery for me.

As a side note, I've had a resurgence of depression over my scars when last week I had lunch with an old neighbor I had growing up. I was hiding my face, as I usually do, around my critical mother and the lady kept asking me why I was hiding my face. My mother blurted out that it was because of my scarring and the lady said she did not see any scarring, which initially made me feel so muich better. Unfortunately, when I stepped outside as we were leaving the restaurant and faced her in the light she then understood what I was talking about, and made a gratuitous remark about the scarring making me more rugged-looking, which infuriated me even more. After all that money on Deep FX, even others can still see my scarring vivdly. Can't I just cut the scars out myself and be left with a long keloid instead? My frustration has been turning into anger recently.

I am looking into PRP also. I am frustrated with the lack of reviews. The few reviews I have seen for this treatment though have not been good for acne scars. I think someone else on this board also complained about it not working for rolling scars like you and I have. I will try to find his post later. Basically, I am up in the air about this one. Though your doc's theory about the laser in combo is interesting.

    Hi guys,

So, here I go... I tried to make as much space as possible without having to remove the old pics and the after treatment pics because I think that is what most people would like to see. So, I have room for 2 final pics which I took last week.

Once again, to kill all negative comments. YES, I HAD ABOUT 75% improvement overall as a result of combining treatments: Subcision, Fraxel and ReCell and Stem Cells 3 months later.

Yes, initially I had about 90% improvement but after 8 months all micro-swelling has subsided and what you see is what I was left with. It's about 75% improvement overall.

Was it worthy? of course it was!!! I am very very pleased.. my life has changed so much!!! Note that back then before the treatment many doctors told me the max I could get was 30% improvement from Fraxel. I went ahead happy to get 30% as I thought that would be a massive improvement for me anyway.. anything would help my bad scaring, but in order to take it further and following recommendations from Dr Khan I also did Subcision, ReCell and Stem Cells in combination and I got 75% in total. I am very very pleased!

FOR THOSE NEGATIVE AND SKEPTICAL GUYS OUT THERE: I am real and not an hoax, I just happen to be a 31 years old professional guy that works as a Management Consultant and also have a busy life. So, sorry for not posting pics immediately after you demanded. If I was an hoax, how can I create so many pics in so many different scenarios, including the ones after treatment when I look like I was run over by a truck!!!??? LOL Some of you guys are hilarious, negative and just don't let yourselves believe. I doubt that without faith and believe you would ever get any results.

I think only 3 or 4 people on this forum have actually uploaded so many pics before and after, the majority of you all dont even have an avatar. I am exposing myself like this for your benefit and to help other people in the same boat as me and what I get from some is recrimination and even people doubting that I am real! ... I mean... seriously guys, get a life! :)

Reason why I took so much time to document my story at the beginning and not now is because as you can probably imagine, after the treatment I was at home for 3 weeks doing nothing! very different to the situation today!

Anyway, here are some new pics, but before that I wanted to point out that I will be doing another treatment in December, exactly a year after my first one. I have visited Dr Khan again to request another Fraxel so I can take the skin to perfection (or as good as it gets), he suggested also doing PRP before that and a combination with subcision again. So, that it is what I will do. I will the update with results. Cant wait!

Hey, can you try taking some pictures near a window with different lighting like your before pictures?

Looks good, thank you so much for posting your after pictures. Looks like the treatment sofetened up your scarring quite a bit. I wonder if you had a series of these if your skin would keep getting better. For some reason, this tends to plateau for most people. Would be great to actually get to 100%. Please let us know if you do and end up with your pre-acne skin again. Seems like it is too good to be true and impossible to achieve, but it is so good that mentally you feel so much better. I think that is the most important aspect to all of these treatments.

Not sure, but when I spoke with the woman she mentioned they were going to get it approved in 2 years, 2 years ago. They keep saying 2 years until if/when it gets approved. I got the impression it will be a LOOOONG time. But, there's no point in getting our hopes up until Ernestoria can corroborate his results with after photos.

    :boohoo:

Im begiining to worry it is all a hoax and he did not get the response from the treatment he was looking for. I hope he did, but deep inside I know he probably did not. I find it so hard to believe he could improve that severity of scarring.

Think about why you think this. You are vulnerable and you feel that since you are vulnerable you will be taken advantage of. I might be wrong, but you're most likely deferring to your own experience with a dermatologist where you were left disappointed. It only takes one dermatologist to plant the seeds of doubt. I suggest you take the initiative and do some digging around on google and finding out for yourself about the potency and promise of stem cells in an attempt to ease your doubts. You have to remember even while his scars are quite dramatic that each treatment is accumulative and will ultimately push the results past 75% improvement and beyond.

Myself and many others on this board are in the same situation as you. PM me or post here if you have questions.

Edit: another bit of information I've acquired is that a lot of clinics offer free consultations through email for these type of treatments and some might do phone ones too.

I am about to drop several grand on deep fx on 8/31, but would love to have it in combo with RECELL. They have an office here in the States...MA, as a matter of fact. Is it possible for me to push my doc toward this?

Frankly and based upon my own experience I would forgo the deep fx. I personally haven't had that specific treatment but I have had a very similar one called the eMatrix and without going into too much detail about an emotionally charged topic it was an abysmal experience in terms of expectations and results.

I would absolutely push your doctor to pursue adopting recell for use in their practice. If I recall correctly, it is just making its debut in the US so the more doctors that know about it the better.

I would strongly suggest taking your money and using it to get the combination treatment you were talking about. Ultimately, it's your decision. Best of luck—hope you get what you're looking for.

Can you provide information on how many ematrix treatments you had? Some users are claiming very good results with 3 or more treatments, indicating the multiple treatments are necessary for optimum results.

I called Avita Medical in Woburn, MA and spoke with a friendly rep named Katherine who was very promising about the Recell treatment. However, she explained it is still 18 months to two years out from being FDA approved in the US. The other bad news is she was explaining they were telling patients 2 years from approval two years ago!

Once again, I am very torn about Deep FX. I think subcision-suction is also a very viable option to comine with the Deep FX and Recell. I think the DEEP fx is probably a good treatment, ONLY when it is combined with other treatments for scarring to get results we all REALLY want!

No, I don't want to hurt my family and don't think I could ever do it, but my skin really holds me back in life. And the sad thing is I'm exactly 9 days from turning 30 and realized I lost all of my 20's to this. How horrible.

    hi ernestoria

    im happy for ur results

i have severe scars ...pitted indented on face.

i live in canada..however i have family in london.

i have seen a reputable dr in canada who says i will see 50% improvement with 4 fraxel restore and 1 fraxel repair laser. the cost is $9000.

could u please tell me dr aamer's cost of the procedures. i believe u had 1 laser and subcision and recell.

i have a budget and money is an issue for me but i feel my situation is holding me back in life..

    thank you

    rav

I would not spend nine grand on that. I had many Fraxel restores and it did nothing, unless the doctor uses dangerously high settings that makes you bleed for years. And one Fraxel Repair is not enough, so I hear.

lol neck indent? don't see anything pal. shouldn't you be enjoying life or something?

LOL my thoughts exactly, and holeydood, your scarring isn't even bad. I think if anyone on this board had my kind of scarring they would swan dive off the Empire State Building. Looking at my skin in the light makes me want to cut myself.

    Yes and I wonder why...

    My guess? Hardly any improvement.

He already posted some of the most improved before and afters we've seen. Stop acting like little bitches.

Listen, that was a few weeks after the treatment, doesn't say anything.

He went through all the trouble of blogging his treatment and doesnt post the results?

I agree with this. Though I do not doubt he very well had some degree of improvement, it would be nice to know what his skin looks like several months out post microswelling and to see if any additional collagen was laid down to level his scarring. Most physicians claim the best and most true results are seen at least 6 months post-op for acne scarring, so it is not unreasonable to want to see more recent after pictures.

  14. Forums Scar treatments   (edited )
I think Erne estimated 20% improvement AFTER all the swelling had subsided. I know in the beginning he was feeling optimistic at 70% improvment, but you got to wait for that microswelling to go down, unfortunately, and I did explain this previously.

As a side note, any at home treatment to induce microswelling would be the best method for masking the appearance of scars.

    No Ylem, you are wrong.

After 6 month of the Fraxel and 3 month of the Stem Cells I have 60-70% overall improvement.

    Microsweling has definitely subsided.

Can you post some good close up before and after pictures, with a digital camera, preferably, so we can see this improvement? Try to mimic the lighting conditions you used in your first pictures, which were great quality. A picture is really worth 1000 words.

    Hey ylem,

I would suggest that you go to dr. khan and have the same combination (subcision, fraxel repair and the Recell).

Another thing to try is the stem cells with him. Thu it is expensive.

Last thing, you might wana try the eMatrix which goes deeper than the fraxel repair, with very little down time. Very new technology using radio waves i guess. (but ofcourse, multiple sessions)

I don't think dermarolling or needling will be good for you. They might be good for a bit milder cases.. But really think about the suggestion I gave you. I think they can make a difference when done on multiple sessions.

I would absolutely LOVE to try these new technologies, but I also just started a new job. I have never been more depressed over my scars than now. It's also this whole thing about turning thirty, but my aging is really started to make them even worse looking. They are so deep and so noticeable. I don't feel like I look normal and when people talk to me they drift their eyes to my forehead because I have such deep scarring on my forehead too and my left cheek is so hideously badly scarred. I really need a face transplant.

I feel like I am up against a mountain trying to get these new procedures which are not available.

I have had dermabrasion, Fraxel, fillers, punch excisions, ...

ylem, why didn't fillers work for you?

What kind of scarring do you have (icepick, rolling)?

Btw: Fraxel and dermarolling can help a lot in improving your skin complexion.

My shadowing never improves from fillers. I want to try silicone again. Im telling you I have spent THOUSANDS!!

If you read most of my posts you will notice I only refer to significant and deep scarring. I in no way compare myself to those with mild to moderate scarring. In fact, most people who post pictures up here and complain about scars really get me down because they obviously dont have anything to worry about and they just want that extra pat on the back. I'm just here to provide objective evaluations on the efficacy of these treatments. Alot of these doctors I've been to promise more than they can deliver. And I have posted my pictures on here before, but even since then my scarring has gotten deeper and more severe.

My scars are similar to Ernestoria's; however, still worse in some areas. I also have a ruddy, death white, redhead, freckled complexion, so my challenges are still more steep than his.

I have had dermabrasion, Fraxel, fillers, punch excisions, so yes I have had invasive invasive procedures and spent lots of money. I have spoken with several doctors recently, including a dermatlogist I shared a flight with who remarked about how severe my scarring was, and I felt like ending my life it was so depressing to hear that. It's one thing to look at yourself in the mirror and to judge yourself harshly, but to hear it confirmed by others confirms just how severe it really is. This all happened recently, and the negative comments about my scars coming from objective professionals hurts far more than having it come from my younger sister trying to be cruel or my grandmother trying to pity me. I don't want to post photos of myself, or even look at my face anymore. Imean just look at how long ive been posting on this board. I'm about to be 30 and have realized I lost all of my 20s to depression over severe acne scarring. Im not married. I have no children. My shrink who's been trying for years and bounced me around from clinic to clinic can't help me. I just want to wear a mask.

  19. Forums Scar treatments   (edited )
I really wonder how you can have such dramatic results after a few weeks. The science behind the entire laser theory is that it damages the skin and new collagen will start to build. However, this new collagen production won't start untill like 6 weeks and results from this won't be seen untill 3 months.

So basically, initial results after the treatment are just from the dead skin layer that peeled off and swelling. Shouldnt the skin return to its old state after a month and then start looking better after 3 months up to a year..?

    What am I missing?

I agree with the first part and disagree with the second. This collagen build up after three months isn't really always true. I've had multiple so called 'non-invasive' lasers that were supposed to do just that 3 months out. Of course, they did not and I ended up wasting more money.
