As of today I started taking Minocycline 100mg 1qd (just for a week then I will start taking 2bid per my derm.) I also started taking Probiotic, Vitamin Calcium 1000mg, D3 600IU, Zinc 15mg, Mag 400mg and Vitamin E 400IU (I start taking these on my own) . My derm also precribed Tretinoin 0.05% but I wanted to wait to start that till I got some Cetaphil daily facial moisturizer with spf 15 and Cerave Foaming facial cleanser. ugghh my skin is horrible I hope this helps if not then he want to put me on accutane.
On Friday 6/30 I took my second dose of minocycline per usual at 10pm I had officially been on it a month. Lorrrdd let me tell you I had the worse allergic reaction. Swelling (that were mainly focused on my joints knees, ankles, hips, wrist, knuckles, elbows and shoulders) the hives on the other hand where pretty much everywhere on me today (7/6) am not as itchy I still have some hives BUUUTT all my joints are back to their normal size. I’m going to see my PCP on Friday for hospital follow up (my derm was booked). Oh I forgot to mention I had to go to the hospital on Sunday because my lips started swelling I didn’t want to go because I know I was going to get a huge bill for something I could just wait out but everyone insisted and I went there they gave me Prednisone 60mg 1qd for 3 days (which made my joint ache more) and Hydroxyzine 25mg for the itching (that my friends helped ALOTT). Anyways fuck all that I rather have acne then try Accutane which has wayyy more side effects.
When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pretty good understanding of how retinoids work, and I knew there would be a light at the end of the tunnel.

aha (every other night)
been breaking out a lot recently . for the past few weeks it was just small pimples. now it's big pimples. fortunately it's just localized on my right cheek and it's not everywhere. i dont have 100% clear skin as i do have a lot of small comedones and i don't expect 100% clear skin. i just hope these big zits go away!! hopefully this stops. i havent been using the recommended full amount of bp for the longest time( because it gives me the reddest and dullest skin) and it was working fine until now.
I recently had a terrible acne flare up. I have been suffering from acne since I was 10 and I'm 29. I had two laser treatments and the last round cause some serious flare up. The Derm recommended Accutune but I"m afraid of the side effects. Today is my first day tying Doxycycline and Retina A . I hope it works. I'm also trying it on my back.
- cleared up intensely but broke out 4 huge pimples recently
- still incredibly oily
-not taking any supplements anymore
- added glycolic soap, salicylic acid, clindamycin toner and benzoyl peroxide
-i have regular dermatologist appointments now for glycopeel cleaning
-in three months, i underwent 8 glycopeel cleaning, 8 blue light therapies and 2 tretinoin/3 step peels
After having tried countless products from my doctor (including antibiotics, topicals), and various birth controls (yasmin, yaz, marvelone), this pill seems to be finally working! Seriously recommend to any girl who has acne and has tried other BC options, this one is best at limiting testosterone (which I think is the cause of my acne)
