A couple of months ago, I went to a facial treatment center to get a diamond peel. I have always enjoyed great skin since adolescence but I wanted even better skin. Thus, the diamond peel.
Two days later, my cheeks started to redden and the first signs of pimples started to appear. In less than a week, I had my first acne breakout. I was desperate for a cure so I went to a dermatologist who was able to help me control my acne after about two months.
However, the acne scars were a lot more difficult to clear than the acne themselves. I didn't want to go back to clinics to get a facial treatment and clear the scars because of my bad experience with diamond peels. I decided to research and develop my own spot and acne reduction regimen.
Here's what I have been using for two weeks now. I have had very few breakouts in two weeks and my acne scars are starting to clear.
1. St. Ives Blemish and Blackhead Control- This is a facial scrub with 2% salicylic acid for acne treatment. The beads exfoliate the skin to remove oil and dirt. Use this once a day only and not before you use Maxi Peel (see below).
2. Maxi-Peel 2% Solution- This contains tretinoin and hydroquinone for the treatment of acne. It helps clear skin discoloration and acne scars. Use this once a day during nighttime only. Don't use St. Ives before you use Maxi Peel because it may irritate and dry up your skin.
3. Pond's White Beauty Detox Cream- This serves as my moisturizer and sunscreen at the same time.
In about two weeks, my skin has greatly improved. I know it's too early to say for sure that this will bring back the skin I used to have but so far the results have been very satisfactory.
Although it is best not to use any make up, be very discriminating with what you put on your face if you really need to wear it. I use Rice Powder Dual Wet and Dry Foundation. It is non-comedogenic so it doesn't make your skin breakout with pimples and it gives great skin coverage. It is a bit more expensive than other products but it has worked for me very well. All the other products in my regimen are inexpensive and can be easily acquired in stores but the Rice Powder Foundation is not so easy to find. Try buying it online. In the Philippines, you can get it at the Beauty Bar.
I will continue posting blogs highlighting the progress I have made so far using my regimen. Please feel free to send me an email at email@example.com.
