Day 154

Been awhile....

It's been almost 5 months now and increased doses almost every month. I'm now on 160 mgs a day and still have spots. I can definitely feel the Accutane in the rest of my body (joints popping, soreness, aching, scaley skin...) but my face doesn't seem to be responding like it should. I had my hormones tested last month so see if I have too much testosterone. Everything came back fine, so we've got to see what else it could be. Wednesday is my appointment and I'm supposed to be done with treatment, but more than likely my treatment will be extended. Yes, I want clear skin, but I also want to have a pain-free body! And it would also be nice to not bruise and scratch so easily!!! I look like I'm getting abused over here!!! :(

I sure thought my Accutane adventure would have gone a lot differently than it has. :(

Well, I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed. I thought I'd be happier at this stage, but it's only the half way point, so I've still got 3 months left for this stuff to work it's magic. I've started to feel achy, but nothing too terrible. It just feels better to stretch as much as possible. Other than that, I really don't have any side effects. I do have quite a few spots on my face, but I'm thinking they might be scars. We'll have to wait and see how that goes!

I haven't been on here in a while. Today is starting week 7. My derm bumped me up to 80mgs a day 2 weeks ago. The first month at 40mgs was actually pretty awesome. My skin actually had a glow to it. Needless to say, I was more than pleased. I was even able to switch from regular foundation to just a tinted moisturizer. When I went for my 1 month check up, my derm was very surprised at how good my skin was, and I could not stop smiling and tellng her how happy I was.

But now it appears that my face is going through the detox phase. :) For the past week, I've had random volcanos spread about my face. Lovely! It really isn't THAT bad, but after seeing how pretty it was, it's just a bummer to now have these visitors. I know this is just part of the process and it will pass, but it's hard to go out in public and try to meet folks when you can't help but wondering which spot they're looking at.

I'm starting to get achy, but I can tolerate that. I was blessed with a high pain tolerance. (but I do sort of feel like an old lady!) My lips are still dry all the time, but I still smear on the Aquaphor any time I need it. I have tubes of that stuff EVERYWHERE.

So all in all, I really can't complain.

And I'm pretty happy. My skin is in no way clear yet, but I can tell a difference....I've just got to be patient. My lips are super dry and flaky. I just picked up some Aquaphor during lunch (thank you 29F!) and it is AMAZING!!!!! I'm still having vivid dreams. It's pretty cool. I can't complain about anything right now. Hopefully it stays that way!!! I'm just in a good mood right now because my favorite singer's new cd just came out! Everybody go pick up Chris Cagle's "My Life Has Been A Country Song!!!" If you don't like it, send it to me! I can't get enough of that man!!!

Venting

Ok, it's takes a lot to piss me off, but last night I met someone who managed to do it within 10 minutes of meeting him! Me and my friends always do happy hour at the same restaurant every Friday. We know most of the staff now and it's like a second home.

We met Alex last night whom we've seen there a few times before but never spoken to. I don't really know what provoked him to point out one of the spots on my chin, but he sure did. When he discovered that it bothered me, he KEPT DOING IT!!!! I mean, you just don't do that!!!! And then when new people would walk up, he would explain that I was mad at him and proceeded to explain why by pointing out the spot on my chin!!!! I could understand too if we were still in high school because that's what kids do, but I'm 26 years old!!!! I was so infuriated!!! I actually almost started crying in the bathroom, but I didn't. Even the bartenders were trying to get him to stop.

I am still just appalled!!!! What grown man does that??? I just don't get it. :)

Day Tres

No headache today! Hooray!!! But my eyes are drier and I'm still tired. I'm going to blame this on the crappy weather, though. :D A few new spots are poppin' up, but nothing a little makeup can't hide!

Day 2

Well, I don't see much difference. I have noticed though that usually my face is super oily in the afternoon and it's not bad at all today. That's a plus! Baby steps! I'm just so impatiant and ready for it to work now! :) I'm feeling sluggish today, but I think that's because I've woken up coughing for the past 2 nights. Plus, I LOVE to sleep, so I never really feel like I've had enough rest. Only time will tell...

20mg

Side Effects:

faint headache (tolerable)

Current Condition:

No new spots just the same camper-outers!

Can't really complain yet, I suppose.

Welp, here we go. I'm 26 and starting Accutane today!!!! I've read a lot of others' blogs, and I have to admit, I'm a little freaked out. I know that the end result will be worth it, but it sure seems like our bodies have to go through a lot of hell before we get to the light at the end of the tunnel. But at the same time it feels good knowing that there are others here to help if it gets rough. So, here we go!!! Only 6 months to go!

Day #1:

20 mg

Side effects: anxiety! Hahaha! Just trying to hope for the best!!! :)

Current Condition:

Various spots on my cheeks and chin (mostly under the skin just camping out) :D

One whitehead by my nose
