Hello!

Well...*sigh*...I started my new regimine not too long ago per my dermatologist, and it's actually the 2nd time I've been on these same products and they still worked wonders for me this second time around.

I got myself into a HUGE mess by making these mistakes....1, going off of the meds/topicals my doctor had me on...2, jumping from product to product when I know my acne is hormonal and 3, trying Proactiv...it was SUCH A MESS!

I started having issues with cystic acne at the age of 11 or 12. I was pulled out of school, homeschooled and spent SO much time at the doctors office. I also had laser surgery to try to soften some of the scars that I have from the cystic acne. The scars are still there *tear* but I'm sure they'd be a lot worse if it wasn't for the surgery.

So, after waiting and waiting for my Proactiv to work I called off of work one day because I couldn't bare for the customers at work to ask me one more time..."what happened?"...and I went to the doctor. He put me back on this soap exclusive from my doctor (I'm assuming, because the bottle has the doctors office name on it and I've never seen it anywhere else) called "Blu Soap". I wash with that in the morning, after I get home from work to wash off my makeup, and at night. I really love the stuff.

In the Morning I wash with the Blu soap, then apply "Acanya" gel. It's a Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamyacine mix. When you get it, you have to mix the two together.

After that dries (I let it soak in for about 5-10 minutes) I apply Cerave AM Moisturizer with SPF30. I've looked ALL over the place for a good moisturizer with SPF, and I just started using this about a week and a half ago, and I love it. No oiliness, no breakouts, and I think it's help my post hyperpigmentation marks from the acne I had go away faster. So yay to that. :D My doctor also gave me Minocycline 100mg to take once a day on an empty stomach. It's helped me with no LASTING side affects, at first it made me a little tired, and dizzy. I still actually feel this way SOMETIMES about 1/2 hr after taking it, but it goes away. I've only been on it for 3 weeks too, so I hope those side affects don't last for the whole duration. Either way, a little bit of dizziness and being a little tired is ok, as long as it doesn't last too long and my skin continues to stay clear

When I get home from work, I do the same thing except I use the Cerave PM moisturizer instead, that stuff is SO awesome too.

At night I wash with the blu soap, and apply Atralin Gel. It's helped me so much too. No need for a moisturizer with this stuff, it's moisturizing on it's own accord.

There's websites for all of these products too if you were looking into asking your dermatologist about using them, you can google "Atralin" and "Acanya", there's so much info out there. Something else I liked about Cerave is that it's made by Coria laboratories, which is the same laboratory that makes Acanya. That's really what made me try Cerave actually.

I started to really see a BIG difference in my skin about the second week into using all of this stuff. It did get just a liiiitle worse before it got better. I had hoped that this wouldn't happen to me, but it wasn't that bad. Everything just started coming to a head really fast, and I got really flaky (although I wasn't using the Cerave in the beginning, I'm sure it would've helped with that), and the acne I had got a little redder. But it lasted about 3 days I would say. Then I got a few more pimples, but they WERE NOT cystic. I never thought I'd be more excited to wake up with a normal pimple lol. About the 2nd week in, as I mentioned, the cycstic acne I had started to become less swelled, until it wasn't bumpy at all...just a red mark. I have a couple pimples left, but that's NOTHING compared to what I had.

Two products in particular made me break out SO bad. It started with the Burts bees acne line. That broke me out all over my chin, but it wasn't cystic. I thought I could clear it up with Proactiv. THAT'S when the little pimples I had from the Burts bees got cystic. It's like they exploded. It was so bad,and the whole thing was concentrated on my chin. I didn't decide to go to the doctors until I got 2 big cystic ones, one on each side of my nose...thats not normally where I'd break out. So...3 weeks on the topicals and meds and I'm on my way to being all better

If you have any questions about any of this stuff, or comments please contact me  I've been going to the dermatologist for about 15 years off and on...maybe I've learned something. I'd love to help someone suffering from cystic acne, it's horrible and ruined a big chunk of my life. If you are struggling hang in there! See a doctor and be persistant, you will get better!
