My accutane (claravis) experience
damn im so ready to have clear skin again...
sorry its been so long since ive posted. after i finished my first cycle i had to wait about 4 days to get my next refill and when i went to my derm she changed my prescription to taking 60mg a day (2 30mg pills a day), which i didnt really understand since my acne looks better than when i started but oh well. so since my last post i had a few more around my mouth area but nothin too bad. i also got three on my right cheek which was unusual but theyre gone now. My mouth and chin area is actually lookin pretty clear and i dont have any actives right now. actually pretty much my whole face is lookin pretty clear except my forehead. i have one pretty big active near the middle of my forehead and then a little one one the left side but i have a lot of red marks from where i had pimples before. something thats been working for me lately is that when i get a pimple i pop it and then put neosporin on it after i pop it. I makes it go away pretty quick. im still getting a little dry but the cetaphil moisutrizer works really well and hasnt made me break out so its nothin i cant handle. not much else to report
so thankfully things have started to clear up. With the help of popping pimples (which i know you shouldnt do but for me it speeds up the process) most of the breakout on my forehead is gone and i only have one medium sized pimple on the left side of my mouth and then just a few small ones. I started getting very dry around my mouth and chin, i guess because the breakout was getting cleared, so i have started using the moisturizer which helps alot so far but i only use very small amounts. Im hoping that now my initial breakout has almost cleared up I wont have too many more horrible breakouts, just the occasional pimple or maybe even nothing, but who knows. I can still see a few little small bumps under my skin on the left side of my mouth still so those might still need to come to the surface. Hope everyone else on accutane is doin alright
well this sucks...I think i've had my initial breakout that i was dreading. My mouth/ chin area got quite a few new ones but none that were too bad. My upper lip got a pretty big one that hurts kinda bad and then, the ones i hate the most, i got some on my forehead. I think i can even feel another one coming out on my forehead. School is gonna suck cause even though im a guy i get pretty self-conscious about it...i just hate everything about it and wish no one had to go through it. Hopefully at least the one on my forehead will clear up soon, preferably by the weekend but we'll see.
I'm so ready to have clear skin again
so not too much different but im definitely starting to get more dry. i have yet to use any moisturizer just cause im worried itll clog up pores and make me breakout but if i keep getting even dryer then im gonna have to. I have gotten a few little pimples on my usual area on chin and mouth but i can see a lot of little ones under my skin on the left side so i guess everything is starting to come to the surface. Also i have gotten a couple on my forehead. So i guess ive kind of had an initial breakout but im still better than i was when i started and im too worried about it right now. Oh and also my lips are getting drier quicker too but aquaphor is a lifesaver in that department. hopefully no negative changes
wow im really impressed with this stuff. that cluster i had on my right side is completely gone except for a few marks that arent even very noticeable. I've barely gotten any new pimples since i started on tane and when i do get one it isnt bad at all and it goes away pretty quick. hopefully this continues cause im so happy with how its going
The main cluster of acne that i had on the right side of my mouth and chin continues to clear! However, i cant be sure that im one of those lucky people that starts clearing very quickly on accutane because i think this breakout may have actually been caused by my old face wash. I was using triaz wipes twice and sometimes even three times a day so i think it was just drying the hell out of my skin. So now that ive stopped with that and started using cetaphil, which is really gentle, its starting to clear up.
Still no side effects although im starting to get a little dry on the breakout thats clearing up but that always happens to me when i have a breakout thats going away. Fingers crossed that this stuff is already working because i really REALLY dont want to have an initial breakout where its gets really bad before better.
Alright so even though i said i wasnt going to blog everyday i think i will as often as i can just to look back on and hopefully (based on my end results) to encourage people to get on accutane. So a few days ago my face basically looked like this - a couple very small pimples on my forehead that werent even really noticeable, the left side of mouth had two that werent very bad either, but the right side of my mouth and chin had three pretty big red ones and like 8 little ones just clustered around my mouth and chin so it looked pretty damn weird. Over the past few days tho ive been putting a hot cloth on the right side of my face throughout the day to try and speed up the process and then washing my face with cetaphil twice a day and surprisingly its working pretty good. My skin isnt really dry yet and neither are my lips at all but that may be because ive been using aquaphor chapstick (which i strongly recommend) ever since i started.
So even though these results may not have anything to do with the claravis, i just thought i would keep this thing up to date. Im really hoping to be one of the lucky people who dont get an initial breakout and who start clearing up pretty quick because my acne is only moderate and it seems the worse your acne is, the longer and more painful this accutane process can be.
Anyways if anyone has any questions or recommendations or just any input at all, it will be appreciated. Thanks and good luck to everyone fighting this battle
Hey guys so let me first tell you guys a little about myself and my acne. I first started getting occasional pimples at the end of my sophomore year in high school. By the middle of my junior year it started getting pretty bad and could be considered mild/moderate acne. By the end of my junior year and through most of my summer it was definitely moderate but not cystic or severe or anything. I get my acne all around my chin and mouth area and a little bit on my forehead but my cheeks are usually pretty good.
So throughout my whole acne experience i tried all that worthless crap that we all buy at the stores, hoping it will work quickly and efficiently. I tried clearasil, proactiv, clean n clear, neutrogena, st ives, and i even tried ordering some stuff online that did absolutely nothing. Over the summer of going into my senior year i went to the dermatologist for the first time and got prescribed an antibiotic (solodyn), a cleanser (triaz), and a cream (epiduo). And after about 2 months of taking those pills and using the cleanser and cream my skin looked great. It was so nice not to have worry about how bad my face looked before i went out and it took alot of stress away from my life.
Anyways I stopped using the solodyn over a month ago and everything was okay at first but in the past couple weeks my face got pretty damn bad again. SO now to the point of this thing - i went to the derm a few days ago and she prescribed me accutane (to my relief) so i just wanted to share my experience with everyone cause I know how difficult and painful it is to suffer with acne and how it can really affect you emotionally.
So im taking 40mg a day and i took my first pill last night. No difference today but thats to be expected considering it hasnt even been 24 hours.
Oh and im using cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer and aquaphor as a chapstick.
I doubt I'll be updating every single day but I'd definitely appreciate any input or stories of others' experiences. Look forward to hearing from you guys
