100% Clear

Ok well my journey with spiro has been a long one. I've been on it now for over a year and a half. It helped me dramatically... changed my skin from being moderately severe to mild/moderate. Probably had an 80% improvement.. However, I yearned to be 100% clear. I finally added birth control, ortho tri cyclen, and also added differn .1% gel. Differin worked great for me in high school, but had to stop because I no longer had health insurance. Well, one and a half months into these new additions and I am 100% clear, and have been so for a week (and I'm on my period, no less!) My skin tone has dramatically improved, and my skin is great, no clogged pores, no whiteheads or blackheads... this has never happened to me before. I've also dramatically changed my diet in the past two months. I cut out gluten, dairy, and eat mostly leafy greens and daily green smoothies. I have never felt better or more confident in my life. Spiro is a wonderful drug, guys, and it helped clear me so much, but only now am I 100% clear. Spiro was a great step in the right direction though.

Just what I needed?

Ever since I wrote my last blog, my skin has been perfect. Not one pimple. I think I really needed the added birth control to really step things up, and it's done wonders. While spiro cleared me up a lot, the birth control did that extra push to make things THAT much better, and I am left thrilled. :doubt: I am so happy, so much more confident, and just yay :(

One year and five months into spiro, my skin has never been 100% perfect always. It has improve4d dramatically, and I appreciate it greatly, but it's just such a tease when my skin looks flawless for three dasys and then I get a few pimples. So, I just decided to go on birth control. I've been taking Ortho-Tri Cyclen for six days now, and it hasn't seemed to give me any adverse effects. I'm not terribly moody, not craving massive amounts of foods, and I haven't had any big pimples since being on it. I really hope this new step helps me achieving completely flawless skin, even though that's a lot to hope for.

Even when you think a medicine is perfect for you, it gets better! This week before my period, I only got one teeny tiny pimple. A speck. Wow. What happened to the numerous cysts, clogged pores, pimples, blackheads of a little over a year ago? My skin's looking great. I even go out without makeup. It's incredible. I feel so much more confident. My redmarks are fading, my skintone has a glow. Spiro just keeps improving even a year later!

Well, one year and almost two months since first embarking on this journey with spironolactone, my skin is perfectly flawless. I am so happy. Anyone considering spiro, please try it. It can really change your life in dramatic ways. It is so nice to not have to hide my face, put hair over my skin, turn around when people look at me, and sit all day inside while having a bad breakout. Looking at photos of myself from then, my acne was completely awful. I had about 4-5 cysts at a time, and numerous smaller pimples spread throughout my face. Now? Nothing :) Except for the week before my period, where I usually only get one or two small pimples. I feel so confident, so free. For the first time in my life, I let someone see me without makeup, my boyfriend of two years. Want to know what he said? "Oh my God you look so amazing without makeup, never wear makeup again you're naturally stunning". That was the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life.

Clear :)

One year and one month since being on spiro, and right now, my skin is perfect. I have some redmarks, but no active acne. I only get acne now the week before my period. I would looooove to figure out how to stop that, but whatever. This time last year, I looked like such a different person. My face was FULL of acne, I rarely left the house... NOW? I love going out, feeling much more confident and happy! My moods are so much better now, and I get to LIVE! I don't have to worry anymore. Life is mine now. I love living it without the stress of acne. I don't even remember a time in my life that I haven't had to worry about acne. Since I was 11/12, I have been getting pretty bad acne, and now being 21, it is so nice to just wake up and not be terrified of being seen without makeup. Spiro is a true lifechanger, and I am thrilled.

1 year on spiro

Wow, one year on spiro. This year went by so quickly. It's been a year and a few days since I've been on spiro, and today, my skin is perfectly clear. It's been amazing to me, as I'm used to waking up everyday with new cysts and small pimples everywhere. Thinking of my face then and now, I don't know how I lived back then. The last few days I've been walking around without makeup, something I haven't done since I was, 12? Haha,, I'm now 21. Crazy journey but I love spiro. When I first started, I also took solodyn and benzoyl peroxide. Now, I just do a scrub with aspirin every morning and take off my makeup at night, and pop in a 100mg spiro pill in the morning, and another at night. Spiro has been a real blessing to me, and although there were some "bumps" along the way, it's been great to me. I hope whoever is scared to try it really gives it a go. I always hoped that, within a year of using this medicine, I would be at the point I am at now. Good things come to those who wait, so really stick with this medicine and it'll do you wonders like it's done me.

Good skin!

Okay so my skin is finally clear from that terrible breakout I had from late July to early September. Right now, I have some clogged pores on my forehead, a very limited number around my chin area... but otherwise, I have a clear face! The redmarks from my terrible breakout are awful, but whatever.. so much better than zits. I wish I knew what caused that breakout, but I'll probably never know. As for now, the spiro is doing it's job once again. I've been really trying to cut down on the bp as I've been concerned about wrinkling as I age (even though I'm 21, I've been using this stuff for years. I hope it doesn't do damage!) Also, everyday I take a calcium magnesium and zinc pill.

Back to goodness!

I think the past month and a half or so was a fluke. My skin was so bad: I had a cyst for the duration of that time, sometimes three or four on my chin! Whiteheads everywhere, etc etc. Maybe I accidentally did not take my spiro everyday, who knows. But anyway, it's back to being clear now, which I am very very thankful for. I'm on my period right now and I only have a little one on my chin. I still have a ton of red marks on my chin, however, from that terrible breakout I had, but HOPEFULLY, it does not turn into more pimples. Spiro is a wonderdrug. I've been on it since December, 2009. It has done me so well!!

jen0489x

UGHHH

Wow, this whole past month I've had really bad chin acne. After my skin being amazing for so long, this was a self esteem killer. My boyfriend even commented on it which hurt. I had three MONSTERS on my chin, and a ton of clogged pores. Maybe I missed a few days of spiro? I can't remember ughhh. but thank goodness, it is FINALLY clearing up. also, my period just passed. but, regardless. my acne was terrible and now it is finally coming together again where it was before.

jen0489x

Ug, being on my period sucks. I had two CYSTS on my chin. The spiro makes them go down so much quicker, but it's still torture. I think I may need to go on birth control for this aspect to go away, but it's still loads better than the mess of cysts everywhere that I had before. I got them both two days ago, and they're both shrinking dramatically. I'm confident they'll be gone in the next few days. Otherwise, spiro has been great. I'm pretty clear except the week before that time of the month.

jen0489x

nearing 7 months now on spironolactone and my skin is looking glorious. no pimples, only 1 clogged pore, no cysts. nice skin! I just wanted to keep people updated on my continuing progress and continue to give the massive thumbs up to spiro )

jen0489x

Perfectly Clear

So a little over 6 months now on spiro, and right now my skin is perfectly clear. It hasn't been perfectly clear... ever? No clogged pores, no whiteheads, no pimples.... wow... I am shocked. I am so happy right now. If it could stay like this forever, I would be ecstatic! Spiro has consistently helped my skin throughout my journey. It is a lifesaver! I was also on clindamycin, but stopped about 2 weeks ago because it is just too expensive to add in anymore, and I wanted to see if the spiro could work it's wonders by itself. My skin is better than ever! I hope everyone who reads this blog and is scared to give spironolactone a chance, goes and tries it. It's amazing. :| Love spiro!

jen0489x

I am six months into , and my skin is doing well. I'm on my period right now, so skin is acting up a bit but is still doing well. It doesn't take away pimples completely, but is wonderful in comparison to how it was before. I got 2 cystic pimples for this period, but they went down dramatically in two days. No whiteheads, a few clogged pores, and otherwise good looking skin! I know in a few days my skin will be perfectly clear as my hormones go back to normal. :| Of course, I wish those monthly outbreaks would go away, maybe if I go on birth control? But the rest of the month, great generally clear skin!!

jen0489x

Still Clear!!!

Just wanted to add an update... I am still clear!! I have a small teeny pimple on the side of my face, but this is the week before my period is supposed to be. If that is seriously the only breakout I'm going to get, WOW. I am so impressed! This just keeps getting better and better. I LOVE SPIRO. I'd represent Spiro for free, just because of the HUGE impact it has had on my life. Seriously, I did not take it for years because I was scared of the initial breakout. Man, if I took this two years ago, my life would be a lot different. I really encourage women to try this.. It saved me!

4 months!!

I have been on Spironolactone for four months now, and this has honestly been one of the best decisions of my life.. I let acne affect me so negatively. It was one of the greatest stressors in my life, and determined the course of my entire day. If I was having a good acne day, I would perhaps do a few things, see people.. If I was having a bad acne day, I would sit in my room, drinking a ton of water and some ACV with a facial mask on, searching these boards for hours. Now, I am clear and about to go to the store without any makeup on my face and I feel like I look fine. Wow, what a change!! My face was full of acne before this... I'd have a minimum of 2 cysts on my face at a time, and on bad days, up to eight cysts! This doesn't include the numerous pimples and the clogged pores around my mouth and forehead.. this is all GONE. I was so skeptical that this medicine would work for me. I did not think it would, as I'm truly a pessimist sometimes. However, thankfully, it proved me wrong! Even things that previously broke me out, like PEANUT BUTTER (awful breakouts everytime I consumed it!) and coffee, those are fine to consume now.. I just feel good. Really good. Of course, I still get terrible headaches on this medicine if I do not consume enough water, but they go away once I fully hydrate myself. I still get tiny pimples sometimes that go away quickly, but I don't care.. I feel amazing. Spironolactone really changed my life. My on off boyfriend for the past year has continuously said he feels much more attracted to me lately and he can't put his finger on why, and that I'm looking better than ever. It's so nice to hear those things! :shhh:

3 months 3 weeks

3 months 3 weeks on Spiro... My skin is clear. A few clogged pores on my forehead, and that is it. I'm also on my period right now, so this is really amazing to me... I am so used to a cyst, a few pimples and a face of clogged pores, being the norm. It's so nice to not have to stress as much about "good skin days" and "bad skin days", because now my good skin days are nearly daily, and what used to be referred to as a good skin day was no where near as good as this! Spiro is seriously my lifesaver. My skin has been more oily the past week but I'll attribute that to my period and not evidence that the spiro is going to fail. I'm so paranoid it'll just stop working, but now I feel blessed. :shhh: Good luck, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jen0489x

3 months and 1 week into spiro and I am still clear. No pimples on my face. A few clogged pores on my forehead and a few whiteheads under my chin, but wow. Best skin in years. I love this stuff, it just gets better and better. I even accidentally slept in makeup, which I haven't done since it made me break out horribly one day three years ago.. That was two weeks ago, and no pimples in that timeframe. Wow, has my confidence went up since using this!! :D I no longer feel like a monster

jen0489x

Still going good!

I'm nearing three months on spiro and my skin is doing awesome! I had two cysts on my chin but they went away in two days. It was amazing! I don't have whiteheads which is an amazing improvement, as my face used to be flooded with them. Also, my clogged pores have greatly reduced, which some still are home to my forehead area. Oh well, spiro is amazing and has been treating me wonderfully. It's the best thing I've ever tried for my terrible acne.

jen0489x

One pimple!

Ha, well perfectly clear skin didn't last but I'm not complaining. I have one pimple right now, and I blame it on the binge drinking and possibly throwing up my spiro tablet, as well as sleeping in my makeup :-P Ha, I just have one small sucker on my chin, kinda hurts but whatever. I don't mind just one, and no others seem to be popping up (I hope!) So I'll attribute it to my terrible weekend last week and not my beloved spiro failing me :-P

jen0489x

2 months and 5 days on spiro, and my skin is near perfectly clear. A few clogged pores, but no pimples!!!! I am so happy... I have pictures of before but I'm too ashamed to show them. I always had a few on my chin, a few on my cheeks, ugh! This was only a few months ago, and now for a few weeks it's been gorgeous. I am beyond happy and my confidence has doubled. If you are thinking about spiro, try it. I feel so happy I did. I wasn't going to even do it because I was scared of the initial breakout, but while my skin was pretty crappy the first three weeks of taking it, voila, big improvements. I've been looking up spiro for three years and only now just have taken it, which I regret a great deal...But wow, try spiro. I'm incredibly thrilled at my results.

jen0489x

SKIN IS AMAZING!

Clearer and clearer everyday! My whiteheads are disappearing quickly, no pimples, acne marks are fading. Wow, is this a miracle drug? A few weeks now of great skin, even around my period. I am ecstatic. I love spiro. <3

jen0489x

STILL doing great!

2 months into spiro. Doing amazing. My skin is SO much better. Not completely clear, I still have a lot of clogged pores and small pimples. But whatever, huge improvement. My confidence has improved drastically and I've gotten so many complements. One of my friends was like "You're looking amazing lately, I can't put my finger on why..." haha, that made me feel great!! I've even been able to focus on other aspects of my appearance now that I don't have to obsess about my acne so much, so I'm really feeling good. I love spiro. It's really a godsend. I hope it doesn't stop working. It really has improved my entire life.

jen0489x

Ugh, after my health drama my doctor said I can stay on spiro. But I have to lower it to 75mg. I guess I have heart issues I also need to deal with now too, which really puts the focus I've been giving acne into perspective.. Anyhoo, I have a bad chin breakout right now.. Three cysts, but eh, it's before my period. It's still way better than it is usually. Also, whiteheads are diminishing as well! They've been pretty consistent thus far but have now been reduced so yay! I hope my progress continues even though much less spiro will be in my body from now on.. My doc said I can possibly be moved up to 100mg but he doubts he'll want me up that high. :(:(:( idk why I was prescribed such a high dose to begin with??? I'm 5'9, 130lbs, no PCOS.... it really doesn't seem like my dosage should have ever been that high, as most girls on here are on much lower... oh well, i hope it didn't mess everything up.
