1 month done

So, I've finished one month of Accutane tomorrow, and start my 60mg dose on Wednesday - a little nervous about that but hey I guess there will be some positives to that.

Skin feels a lot better, when I wake up its no where near as oily as it used to be and bar like the two or three bumps my skin feels sooo smooth. My forehead is completely clear, and my chin is clearing up well.

My skin is still red, but no where near to how it used to be, my dad hadn't seen me for a month before I started the meds until xmas and said how less "raw and red" looked.

As for the dryness, my skin does get dry when I wash in the morning and at night, but once I use moisturiser its fine. But my derm told me it probably would get a lot dryer when I'm on 60mg.

My lips are also realllyyyyy dry at the moment, and the cold weather doesn't help, so I've been slapping on the blistex like its going out of fashion!

But yeah I'm happy with my skin overall at the moment, haven't broken out yet in a few weeks so touch wood that stays the same....!

9 daysssss

So 9 days in, my skin is definitely less oily, like when I wake up in the morning my skin was usually very oily and felt rubbish, but now it feels good when I wake up (if that makes sense).

My skin isn't too dry yet, I do have to use moisturiser but its pretty ok at the moment, my lips aren't too bad yet either (touch wood), a little dry around the mouth, but yeah I guess manageable at the moment.

Although I'm getting headaches still which is soooo annoying, and my eyes are getting a bit dry now and then, which is very annoying as I like to wear my contacts a lot of the time. Also my skin is quite red at the moment, but I guess thats just something I have to deal with if I'm gonna be on this stuff.

Had a bit of a break out today when I woke up which was a little annoying, but that might have something to do with it being my time of the month...

From what I've read, I bet when I go on 60mg thats when the side effects will get worse!! Urgh, just have to keep going I guess!

5 days into Accutane

Ok so my first blog, so I guess I should explain my situation with my skin!

Basically had bad skin from when I was like 14ish, (I'm now 20) and I tried every single medication you can think of, (with no luck) and then got put onto the dianette pill when I was about 16/17 - and as time went on my skin had pretty much cleared up, with the odd spot now and then. THEN, I started uni and it all kinda went down hill again lol I think the whole life style made my skin bad again, and here I am starting the dreaded Accutane!

My acne is described as moderate, and its mainly on the areas near my mouth/lower cheeks and chin, my forehead is clear, and for the past 2 months its settled down but still there, soooo my dermatologist suggested Accutane (kinda knew it was coming!). So yeah I was a little worried with all the side effects but having read all the blogs on here it kinda prepared me for what was going to happen.

I'm 5 days into it now, and no problems as such so far, I'm on 40mg a day, then will be put up to 60mg in a few weeks depending on my bloods. Only things so far are headaches! But they go away when I've had some Ibuprofen! Also had a few hot flushes past few days, like feeling really hot and then cold, but thats gone away now. And this morning my skin feels tighter and a bit dryer, and some of my existing spots are drying out (which never usually happens so I'm guessing that must be the Accutane)... but nothing I cant handle.... yet!!
