2 months on Claravis

So it was "technically" my 3 month into treatment but I'm not counting the first month. That month I took Accutane (brand) and then had to switch to Claravis. So I count it as 2 months on Claravis. And my dermatologist agreed that I can stay on Claravis for 3 more month, so a total of 5 months on Claravis. I don't want this acne stuff to come back! Last time he put me on Keflex and that seemed to help. So he gave me a script for that and then gave me samples and script for Aczone. I just read all the posts about that. But we'll see what happens. I do see improvement! So that makes me happy and feel like it's worth it. My shoulders and back was pretty bad and I probably have 3 pimples on there! You can see all the scaring from the acne instead the acne itself! But my derm did accuse me of picking at my face! He said I can't pick at my back that's why it looks so fabulous. I don't pick my face, maybe a little. But I wake up in the night itching my face! It's so irritated and I'm asleep so I don't know what I'm doing. And with this medicine, I get cuts on my skin left and right. If I push my hair out of my face and I graze a pimple it will start bleeding! He told me to put socks on my hands! How stupid. But I'm really going to try to make a conscience effort to watch touching and scratching my face. Maybe this Aczone will help with the inflammation and irritation. Maybe it's my stress that's slowing up the results. Who knows but I'm glad that I see results even if it's not all the results that I want to see!

Started week 6

So I've started the magical week 6 - according to my derm after the 6th week you should really start to notice improvement. I REALLY hope I see something soon. I can see why people get depressed and discouraged on this stuff. I went out to my sister's house last weekend. It was the first time she's seen me since I've started taking this stuff. Even she asked me if I really should be doing this. My skin is so painful and sore. I even woke up in the middle of the night scratching my face. I have a really bad patch on my jaw. Even my little 2 year old neice kept telling me "boo-boo" and pointing at my face. But I can tell that my skin is REALLY drying out which I'm not used to. So I know it's doing it's thing. I always sing a joking song to my husband about having patience, maybe I should start singing it to myself! My count down to my 2 month appointment is on. When I see the original pictures, I hope I see a difference.

I've been on Accutane for just over a month now. I am 30 years old and have suffered with cystic acne on my back since I was 15. Within the past 5 years it has developed on my face. After trying everything I decided to put starting a family on hold and told my dermatologist that I would go on Accutane. I am also a guinea pig for my friend since she's scared about going on Accutane, I've been telling her everything that I've been going through. The only side effect that I've noticed is that my lips have gotten really dry. I've always applied lip balm but now it's constant and I've moved onto stronger products, Aquaphor. My skin has gotten much worse. I was unhappy with that so I had my dermatologist up my dosage. I'm now taking 40mg twice a day. Unfortunately, since Accutane is being pulled off the market my pharmacy could only give a generic, Claravis. If anyone knows if this medicine works just as well, please tell me. I'm a believer of using the brand but for some reason, my pharmacy doesn't carry it in stock and can't order it anymore. This treatment is my last resort so hopefully this works and next time I write, I will have better news about my skin being clearer!
