Today marks the end of my seventh week on the regimen.

Results have been phenomenal!

I got my period and the usual accompanying breakout...with only 3 small pimples!

i think this is a record low for me. plus, my new pimples were nearly gone this morning after dousing them with AHA+ and the bp last night.

Dan's regimen is a dream come true for anyone who is fighting acne.

The only significant problem remaining now are my red spots and minor scarring.

I guess this will just take time now. My skin has to repair itself.

I still get some dry spots but it's nothing a little jojoba oil can't fix.

My self-esteem has sky-rocketed. i actually WANT to go out now.

it's quite nice.

Took a little bit longer than my neck for my face to get good and hydrated with the cetaphil lotion but it is finally on its way!

My skin is far less dry and flakey.

Also worth noting: i only have 3 active pimples on my face right now!

Feelin' good.

OH NO!

Alright....just finished my first month on the regimen.

some bad news: just got a breakout. definitely not as bad as previous breakouts but it's still kind of discouraging.

also, my skin is SUPER dry now. especially when i put on my sunscreen. it all just balls up into little white pills all over my face even with jojoba oil. kind of gross.

my neck mysteriously got super dry too even though i am not applying any BP there. i've been using cetaphil moisturizer on it for the past couple nights and it looks and feels so much better now!

i'm going to start using cetaphil moisturizer on my face now and see if this will help with the dryness.

I used AHA+ for the first time a couple nights ago. no real improvement but it probably takes a few uses to really notice a difference.

i just want my dryness to go away right now!

I just completed my third week on the regimen.

I must say, i am truly amazed at the amount of time it took to start seeing my SKIN again!

Only 3 weeks in and i have just a few existing pimples--probably menstrual related too!

I do have excessive amounts of dryness, especially around my mouth but i'm sticking with this program.

i cannot believe how clear my skin is looking right now. Of course I still have a lot of red marks...

Going to bump my BP dosage up to the 2 full pumps tonight.

Dan's gel really IS superior to the neutrogena on the spot stuff. And i love the cleanser and jojoba oil. Really nice.

At the end of the month I plan on incorporating the AHA+ into my routine.

AHHH I love waking up in the morning and looking in the mirror to see the vast amounts of progress that have taken place on my face!

Self esteem is on the rise.

So here we go....day 12.

I went from INITIAL INITIAL breakout....to a bit of clearing....and now..........BREAKOUT.

red, gross pustules/papules. CYSTS.

this is not too pretty.

but i will power through it. despite the new breakout, my skin is a lot less oily throughout the day than when i was using the tretinoin. so that is definitely a plus.

i have final exams this week too which probably is doing nothing to help my skin.

ahhh i can't wait to see more progress O_O

more updates soon...

Week 2

I've been on the regimen for a full week and a day now. The peeling is actually not that bad. The left side of my face is looking a lot clearer but now i'm breaking out on my right side.

Redness is decreasing which is really nice.

I ordered dan's products today and will begin using them next thursday!

Also- a friend told me my skin looked smoother today.

Several days after my last post I broke out AGAIN. badly.

I was beyond frustrated because it's definitely not a menstrual thing (i break out about every other week).

On a whim i decided to stop my tretinoin treatment and start the regimen.

Right now i am forced to use Neutrogena's On-The-Spot BP as I am still at school and cannot get Dan's products shipped to my PO box.

I will be home in less than 2 weeks though and will start using the acne.org stuff then.

So anyway....it's going....not so great.

I guess I'm one of those people who experiences the "initial worsening of acne."

I'm ok with this though. I have faith this regimen will work.

This is week 1. I'll see where it goes from here...

So it's been about a week since I last posted.

Still using the Tretinoin...

This week my skin looks surprisingly better. I have far less of those little bumps on my forehead and much less redness overall.

I used BP on some of my really big nasty spots and that seemed to help them heal a lot faster.

But this has happened before. I have a good week and then the next week that all goes to hell.

Hoping things will stay good this time!!!

Ok so here's my story...

During middle school I had severe acne. Like really bad--I'm talking red bumps, cysts, white heads, blackheads all over the majority of my face. Kids made fun of me, called me mean names like pizza face and ugly. Not exactly what you want to hear when you're at such a vulnerable age and just coming to begin to understand yourself and all that jazz.

So anyway, after several years of suffering, my mother finally took me to see a dermatologist after trying every over the counter med available (proactiv, murad, clearasil, clinique products, you name it, i tried it). I was prescribed Triaz facial pads and Differin gel (I was also originally prescribed Minocycline but ended up having a terrible reaction to it involving nausea and brain swelling-so we quickly ended that). By the summer of that year my skin was much, much clearer...

I enjoyed near perfectly clear skin for about 3 years.

Then last year, out of nowhere I started breaking out again. It has slowly returned to the severe level it was at back in middle school with painful cysts, blackheads, painful pustules etc.

I saw the dermatologist again and he prescribed Tazorac. After being on that for a month there was no noticeable difference (just SEVERE drying and flaking...it looked like my face was slowly peeling away...I would have flaky residue show up on my clothes--it was pretty embarrassing).

Finally, the derm decided that maybe my acne was a hormonal problem and put me on a form of birth control. I also switched from using Tazorac to using Tretinoin Cream 0.025%

So that's where I'm at right now.

Every morning I gently wash my face with Cetaphil Daily Cleanser, then apply Eucerin's Everyday Protection SPF 30 face lotion.

I use Bare Minerals for makeup.

At night I again wash my face with the Cetaphil cleanser, then apply the Tretinoin cream.

After waiting about half an hour for the Tretinoin to soak in, I use Cetaphil Ultra Hydrating Moisturizer (since the Tretinoin can make my skin fairly dry).

I've been on the Tretinoin for about 13 weeks now with little visible improvement. At first I had horrible breakouts (purging) but that finally stopped after about the 7th week.

Lately it seems as though I go through short phases..My skin will look OK one week and then the next it breaks out again. It's just been that kind of vicious cycle for about a month now.

Also- birth control doesn't seem to be helping matters...so maybe this whole mess isn't hormonal?

I'm going to give the Tretinoin another 4 weeks and if there still isn't any kind of improvement I'm going for the Acne.org Regimen.

I will continue to post about my progress--or lack thereof.
