Hello Everybody,

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kristin Davis. I've joined this site just today but have always read blogs from this site since last year.

I've been suffering from acne since age 13, I am now 18 and have still seen no improvements. I hope u understand my frustration. When I turned 16, I went to a dermatologist and have been prescribed topical and oral antibiotics such as doxycycline. For a while, like a year or so, it worked well for me. My skin cleared up and had only a couple of breakouts, but no severe ones. I kept at that regimen until I was 17. For some reason however, I started breaking out really bad, even worse than before. I started breaking out in my cheeks, sides of my forehead, and my chin. I was completely aggravated because i've only ever broke out in my forehead are before. I went back to the dermatologist and this was when I was prescribed retin-a, clenia facewash, and doxycycline again. I did this for about a year and it didnt even cause the slightest improvement on my skin. If anything, I feel like my skin got worse. I was always itchy and my skin turned red and blotchy =/

Finally, I convinced my mom to let me take accutane. I started accutance 52 days ago. Today would be my 53rd day. Although I'm still not thoroughly happy with my skin and have not reached my ideal results, I still have those really red acne scars! I can already see some differences. My skin feels smoother and I've only been getting 2 or 3 breakouts from time to time.

As for the side effects, I'm experiencing some back pains and been having trouble sleeping. I've also been getting nose bleeds everyday. I would say it's a small price to pay for the end result tho. So if there's anyone of you out there thinking you couldnt handle the small side-effects, Hang in there!

One thing that really worries me tho is that my skin has become very sensitive to sunlight. My work requires to be outdoors most of the time. Although I'm using a good SPF protection that my dermatologist also suggested, I find my skin turning red and burning. The worst part is, I wear sunglasses, so there's like a white circle around my eyes and the rest of my face is burnt red! Eek! Can someone please help me out with this? I might have to start using big floppy hats or umbrellas or wrap a scarf around my face.

I will be uploading pics and letting u guys know about my progress.

I've decided to write this blog because I understand what we go through and i'm happy to help those going through the same thing as me.
