DesignatedDriver

Hey,

So I decided that I didn't need to take the last month of Accutane so I stopped.

I took it for four months, with good results. Its been about ten days since my last pill and, still dry skin. No acne, no redness. just coloured areas around my jawline, and some scars on my temples. Overall, accutane was succesful for me. The side effects were, dry lips, dry scalp, dry palms, dry eyes ( which are very uncomfortable to deal with ) A little serious ones were, ankle and knee pain, my stomach was a little more bloated and lastly the breakout that i had during the first month of accutane, it got me real unmotivated in the beginning but I stuck with it.

Anyways, take care

please ask me if you have any questions, I would love to help

HEY everyone,

an update from when I first started accutane, about 5 months ago upto now

Dosage: 40 mg per day

First month- real dry skin, lips, dry scalp, breakout, face got redder,

Second month- a major change in my skin, maybe one or two zits for the whole month, dry lips and dry eyes

First blood test: chlestrol was a little high, I think its because I drank a couple of times.

Third month- NO ZITS! 0, not flakey skin anymore, scalps fine, ankle pain, usually at night, still dry lips but not as bad, face not red anymore,

Fourth Month- No zits, just marks that are fading away. my main area is my jawline and my forehead.

About to start the fifth month in a week. I should probably not take it but, I just want to make sure I dont get any more zits!

Please note that I have not drank once for the last 3 months which is probably a big factor on why I don't get acne anymore. People say," food doesn't matter " but it does, what accutane does is, it blocks oil production in your body, but tires out your liver, if you drink and eat really oily foods that will just worsen your liver which will cause you to breakout, if not on your course of accutane, atleast afterwards. That's probably the best advice I can give you.

You will be acne free :P

Hey everyone,

I'm new at this so all help will be appriciated. So to start things off, I'm just an average 16 year old guy with moderate acne. I have had struggles with acne for the last 2 years. I live a pretty active life and try not to get depressed about my acne. To be honest, I thought I was done with acne a couple of months ago.. but during this summer it all came back. My main area was my forehead but over this summer I started getting acne around my jawline. I think it's because of shaving irritation, weather and alcohol use which ofcoarse is very bad for my liver!

Why Accutane?

I've known about accutane for a while now, but I didn't really want to use it because of the " Initial Breakout" and ofcoarse the side effects but, I just didn't want to put up with it anymore, so I decided to suck it up. Plus, I had really oily skin so why not try it. My family doctor prescribed me 40mg a day for 2 months and eventually another 2-3 months afterwards. As soon as I went on accutane I started to see that my face was getting dry by the day. By day 3, my skin started to peel and by the end of the first week, I had my first breakout! Week 2 started out bad because my skin was really flakey but I've got that covered with some moisturizing! I have also had another breakout on my forehead but it seems to be getting smaller, atleast my skin isn't oily anymore! Side effects! Hmm, VERY dry lips, flakey skin, red eyes so I look high at all times haha, sensitivity to sun- I can already feel it and fatigue but hey, on the positive side, I have an amazing sleep, and I can't drink which is healthy anyways. Also I recently got my license so, I am just everyones designated driver!

I just wanted to share my story with you guys, so why not tell me yours!

I'll keep in touch, take care for now.
