I have been on the regimen for a few days now and my skin was getting really dry. I started reading the message boards and exploring the oil cleansing method. I just couldn’t resist so I went out and bought the supplies needed to do the ocm, and tried it last night. Though I was surprised that it actually did seem to clean my face, and it isn’t at all dry this morning even though I still applied bp. However I realize that the clear skin regimen is much more likely to clear my skin than ocm at least for now. So I am going back to the regimen exactly the way it is suppose to be done until I am completely clear. I hopefully I can resist the temptation to try new treatments and products.

Starting the regimen

So I have realized Clinique three step is complete crap. After using it for over a month my skin was still breaking out and now started to continuously be dry and flaky. So I am going on the regimen and sticking it out this time. I wanted to order the dkr products off line but didn’t see the point when I already had 2.5% bp and cleaners and moisturizers. I did however go out and buy Olay complete for sensitive skin and jojoba oil to try and combat the flaking I experienced last time on the regimen. I have also decided to go off make-up for a few weeks as well. I have been reading on the message boards about the oil cleansing method and really want to try it. But I am going to give the regimen a few months exactly the way instructed on the web site before I try anything new.

Day one at acne.org

This is my first day at acne.org. I stumbled on to this web site about 2 years ago. The site was a lot different then. After half heartedly attempting the regimen for a few weeks I wasn’t seeing amazing results so forgot about it entirely. I realize the reason I wasn’t seeing results was because I wasn’t following the regimen exactly, or using the correct products. Two years later I am still battling a mild, sometimes slightly more severe, acne problem. I have many blackheads and white heads and occasional inflamed acne. I also have quit a bit of red hyperpigmentation from previous outbreaks that takes FOREVER to go away! Any way I have been using Clinique three step, level 3, for a little over a month now. My skin is currently mostly clear with occasional whiteheads. However during the month I have been using Clinique I have had quite a few break outs. I decided to stick with the system a bit longer because I have read about “purging†that can occur when using this type of system that generally clears after the first month or so. I do believe the “purging†has stopped and my skin is almost completely clear now. However my skin is very dry, tight, and flaky. Not much more attractive than the acne itself. So I have decided to stop using the clarifying toner. Since the toner contains so mush alcohol it is more than likely the main cause of the irritation and dryness I am experiencing. I am replacing it with Neutrogena rapid clear lotion, which like the Clinique toner contains 2% salicylic acid, without all the alcohol. I am going to give this a few weeks and see what happens. If after this attempt I am still experiencing break outs then I am going on the acne.org regimen again and following it exactly this time.
