Your problem is most likely caused by fungus - either malasezzia or candida fungus - causing fungal acne. The problem can be treated simply and safely by applying topical anti-fungal cream, keeping the affected area very dry (do NOT apply moisturisers or organic oils as these encourage fungal acne) and using antidandruff shampoo. You can but some clotrimazole antifungal cream (no prescription required) now and start applying that to the affected areas. Clotrimazole antifungal cream is total

You most likely have fungal acne caused by sweating - fungus loves moisture. Keep your skin as dry as possible, apply antifungal cream (start with clotrimazole cream - ie, Canesten or similar - available without a prescription, mixed with terbenafine cream - ie, Lamisil or similar, if you can get terbenafine cream without a prescription), use an antidandruff shampoo (because antidandruff shampoos are antifungal) and dust your skin in antifungal powder at night. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us all. Acne is a struggle mentally and physically. I wish there was a magic pill that was safe and made everyone have beautiful skin. I'm not sure why skin is so connected to self esteem, but it is. Meditation and prayers are what keeps me going. My prayers go out to everyone in this struggle.

I FELT THIS POST WAY TOO HARD. I’m lookin major ugly rn on day 21 and when my derm ups my dosage I know it’s about to rock my world and wreck my face. To answer your Q, I no longer use topicals because I feel like with the dryness, they’d do more harm than good and cause irritation. It is tempting though with all this crap Best of luck to you, hang in there we’ll get thru this(hopefully)!!!

leelowe! You're still here! I stayed completely clear for a full year (I moved to a different state, the stress caused me to stop having periods, so my breakouts stopped, TMI I know). I'm now back to acne and on Spiro as well-been on it for years. Good to see my mail acne.org supporter still here.

I agree with the above comment. Consistency is key. Some people can slack and be ok but other's can't. Try to get back to the old routine to see if you see changes

If cleansers are your issue then this may work for you, especialy since you clear up when you're away. Don't be discouraged and give it at least 3 months before passing judgement. This however never worked for my face but it has worked for others. Good Luck
