I was prescribed the Differin, and at one point i was on Accutane, which worked miracles! But it interferred with my already clinical depression, so i had to be taken off of it after 3 months, my skin was pretty clear for a while, but about 6 months later I got it bad again.

im sorry but i think your depressed only because of your skin. because i always am. maybe if you explained it the doctors would understand. these doctors , let me tell you, are the most ignorant assholes alive. don't let the degree fool you. these doctors never had one skin problem int heir lifes. let them go through just a portion of what most of us members go thorough and they will be beggin for their original life back within days. so ppl with acne and that have depression have it because of their skin. im sure if your skin was nice and smooth and looked nice, you would be the happiest girl in the world. just speak up next time. or infact, i will tlel your doctor to put you back on accutnae imedatley and explain to him what i just told you. your sexy by the way.

I think you also have to take a blood test to make sure if your depression was chemical or situational. Just like secluded/sad said, hopefully it is caused by acne, not by chemical imbalance.

I don't know how to deal with stress either. I do believe that when you stressed out..you overeat and you eat junk...mess up your internal body, then you don't feel like going out or be active (I know it happened to me). Probably modify your diet also, exercise, etc..

I'm from the same state as you are btw.

Hi Tiffany!!! Look at it this way, at least you don't have insanely grosse inflammation yet ( like i had ... ). It's tough stuff, I know... I have wanted to die so often because of what people said and did to me when I had real bad acne. They just said YOU'RE UGLY AND THAT'S IT. It hurt me to hell. Hang in there girl... It coulda been worse... Remember to drink lots of green tea and water.

Thanks everyone! The support means A LOT!!!

About my depression, Ive had it long before i started breaking out. yes my acne may incourage my depresssion, but was not the main cause. I honestly think Ive had depression since I was quite young as I have found old diaries and found entries that Ive written about hating myself and wanting to die around age 8, and I never had much of a reason to be thinking that way. The acne has definantly helped with my low self-esteem, but my depression is more complicated than that. Ive had a gazillion blood tests, MRIs, and once has one of those where they hook up all those cords to your head and watch the needle on a machine when they tell you something and your brain reacts to it(I cant remember what those are called), plus Ive had mucho therapy. But my acne is affecting my depression, just not the main cause. and i know that from looking at old pics of myself when i didnt have ance i was in better shape and looked a lot happier, so it is affecting me more than my skin. But...yeah.

Thanks again for all the support it means the world to me!!

if i was u id get rid of all those irritating topicals..including 10% BP..ouch..and get back on accutane. accutane is a freekin' miracle and i know your whole world would light up again once your skin was flawless again...it's like a huge weight has been lifted. As long as your bloodwork wsa OK, i think it's worth a shot to try it again..i garantee when u look inthe mirror at 3 to 5 months in your course u wont feel depressed at all...it may make u whilst on the drug..but accutane may be your answer to actually feeling good about yourself again..topicals only ever made my skin worse..it's working from within that's the real winner..i wish u luck and pls think about it..im on a 8 month course..6 months in and im a changed person.
