Alright Week 16,
Well after some rough weeks in the past, I’m getting close to calling this stuff a miracle drug! No cysts this week, and VERY few whiteheads. I think the problem in the early weeks of accutane is that even though you may be getting fewer breakouts, your skin is very sensitive and they take forever to heal, so in any given week you see breakouts from the past 10 weeks, instead of the past 2 or 3 when your skin is not on the drug and healing quicker. Anyways, I think my skin is looking better than it ever has in the last 8 years or so. The one large mark on my right jaw line is a result of me pulling out an ingrown hair, so I can’t attribute that to acne. All and all, I’m very happy!
While I would trade the side effects for clear skin any day, they are still pretty rough! I take this pictures right after I get out of the shower, so you can’t really tell, but within an hour or so, my face gets sooo noticeably dry. The last month I’ve been using Eucerin repair moisturizer. Even though it clogs pores, my derm said it doesn’t matter because I need something that strong (plus I don’t seem to be breakout out from it anyways). I also have a humidifier going all the time in my room and am drinking about 8 bottles of water a day, but even with all that, it is still uncontrollably dry… Any other suggestions?
I hope everyone else is progressing as well. To those acutance users, STICK WITH IT! I know its hard… just read some of my posts from a few weeks ago, it can get extremely frustrating when you still breakout way into the course, but it WILL GET BETTER
