9 Weeks into Accutane

Alright Week 9

Well first, I did up my dosage from 80mg/day to 100mg/day. Not that 80mg wasn't working, but because I'm 175lbs and am handling the side effects pretty well, my derm said I may as well go full force.

Definitely still improving! Aside from a couple early last week, I haven't had much active acne, its great!! Also, the breakout I had 2 weeks ago on my cheeks seems to be calming down. As for my neck, I for one think it is looking much much better.. One thing that is really annoying though is that those red marks you see on my neck are not really just marks, they are actually small cysts under the skin that just don't seem to go away. They literally feel like small rocks when I pinch the skin around my neck. I think I have about 4-5 on each side and have probably been there for about 6 months or so. My derm said over time they will get smaller, but often they need to be surgically removed because sometimes your body just can't break them down. I hoping for the former... I guess we'll see how they are after the 6 month treatment and I'll go from there.

I guess that’s all, good luck to everyone, if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them...

    hey u look awesome.

i was just wondering if you got any...ANY side effects?

cuz i might go on them and kinda scared cuz its like mega serious drugs.

also, did u take a blood test before u went on the pills?

if so, did u find out at the derm like automatically or did they send the blood to a lab and u had to wait?

alright dude hope ur progress continues to succeed.

Yes, I had an initial blood test and then one each month thereafter. I think they are required to go on accutane. You have the tests done about 3 days before you go to see your derm and they tell you the results then. I don't think it is very common for there to be an issue though.

Lips have been chapped 24/7 for the last 9 weeks, literally. I think I did get minor headaches for the first week or two. The worst part was that my skin has been very dry (even peeling like after a sunburn - check my last week 8 picture). The drying occurs on my face, back of the hands, forearms, upper arms, and the back of my neck. It really does get to be a pain to put moisturizer on all those places every day and sometimes they can be painfully dry, but I guess you get used to it. I will say the dryness has decreased a good amount in the last week or 2. In the end, the side effects are there, they are minor, but they are certainly worth the clear skin, no question about it. Plus keep in mind, they are temporary.

Hey, your skin is looking MUCH better than it was when you started. I hope those cysts go away for you but I guess the good news is after accutane you shouldn't be getting anymore. You're super lucky not to be having side effects, I'm just on 40mg and in my 3rd week and not only am I dry all over but my back is sore and my eyes can barely tolerate contacts! But it's worth it. Your pictures are really helping me predict my future with acne.. Good luck!

Has accutane had any affect when you workout? Are you able to keep your energy up, or are you really sore afterwords, any problems?
