Kat, I mean this in the best possible way, I don't even see anything that would bother me if I had your skin. Seriously. Have you seen mine? I'm still fighting to get mine as good as yours, and I'll probably never have skin as pretty as yours. You're incredibly pretty plus your skin really looks very nice. Maybe you're being too hard on yourself. You look fabulous. :P *hugs* -Betterdays

    thanks better days!!!!!!

but i look at your picture and i don't see anything, i mean nothing, you look perfect.

but you know what? i will take couple pictures tomorrow in daylight. back, face and chest. that might change your mind.

lately i only where shirts with sleeves, and this is florida, only because i always have to squeeze my blackheads. there are so many, i can't leave them alone, even though i know they will be back the next day.

how come the other message board is not working?

i am thinking to try a home microdermabrasion but i don't know which one. oh, and tomorrow i will order the alpha hydrox oil free.

i mean i used glycolic acid a lot of times, but maybe those kinds weren't the right one, who knows. last try.

    Hi Kat,

just wondering what do you want to improve? When you say 'shiny' you were complaining about oily skin? That might be your problem with black heads too I think. I used to have a problem with that before coming in to Oregon (which has a great clean air IMO). Oily skin traps polution/dust in air more than dry skin- again IMO. Plus Florida supposed to be pretty humid right? that can make it worse...so just use gentle cleanser daily and exfoliator weekly..

As far as 'pores' go...it's just a normal occurence in people's skin..so I think you have nothing to worry about. You may want to take some vitamin A for that red eye though..he.he..LOL (I'm just kidding- please don't be mad at me... :P:drool: )

    Hey Kat,

yup, you have REALLY NICE skin and this photo is a pretty clear shot, I'd be really happy...i don't see anything irregular>But skin always looks more shiny in pictures, that's why regardless of how good skin is, most people NEED powder in pics. I can't stand blackheads either tho and I've encountered a similar prob to yours with glycolic acid, it just doesn't work well for that and made it worse some days! Try salicylic acid which is oil soluble>I'm friggin' allergic to it (aspirin sensitive I guess) but it may help you and maybe lactic acid products too. WITCH HAZEL dickinson's brand that you get at the drug store and drinking at least three liters of water worked for me to unclog pores>strange b/c it's so simple : P

Also, if you have body breakouts, maybe the detergent you use irritates you, have no clue worth a shot> use a salicylic acid body wash or apply benzoyl peroxide>you're lookin' good :P

Well, I guess your own self perception is alot different to the people around you. You see yourself everyday and you magnify your own flaws, when other people don't seem to notice.

To you, your pores are huge, and your skin is shiny.

To me, your skin looks great, glowing, and the shine can be easily fixed, but let's admit that shine is definately exaggerated in photoes! BTW, you look like a cross between Cameron Diaz and Naomi Watts. (Don't know why, but that's a good thing cause they are both gorgeous.)

Anyway, love your dog, what breed is it?

Hey Kat, Chloe might have a point about some detergent irritating your skin. There are some out there without fragrance and without dyes etc, plus, watch out for fabric softeners (liquid and sheets) as they are guilty of irritation for sensitive folks. The cleanser I use DOES contain SA, and of course you know I love that GA/AHA ... just remember it took me about 5 weeks of twice daily use before those blackheads exfoliated (the red infected ones were much faster, oddly!) Build up slow and hopefully it will help you too. If it isn't strong enough alone, you can add some BP, but you probably won't need it. I feel silly giving you even this much advice, since you look so good! LOL.

Hey Obi, Hiya! Drop me a note sometime. How r ya?

    thanks so much guys!

i mean we really must see things totally different, maybe you don't see the same picture as i do.

but anyway, since i really have tonnes of clogged proes (blackheads,...) i tend to squeeze a lot, and that makes it worse of course.

but, if i could just find something to stop those blackheads or clogged pores from coming.

for example on my arm, usually there is not much to see, but when i stretch the skin and i start seeing things, then i start squeezing. and even my husband always wonders where all that stuff is coming from. he even said (and he is the man of compliments, always) that it is so weird, that i have that strange problem.

but what am i writing, i mean it's like i want to prove to you that i don't look as good as you guys tell me. and i know that a lot of times, i just think i am so ugly. but STOP, don't tell me i am not, you are right i know. but the way i see myself, you just can't believe. my skin to me is so horrible.

i feel so weird, just because you are giving me comliments and i should be happy. thanks very much.

still, i will post some new pictures, we'll see how they come out.

one other question. besides glycolic acid, what else is there to exfoliate the skin with? i mean over the counter medicine.

    you people are so sweet.

    :P

Hiya Kat, I'm going to post something in the forum under "General Acne and Products" about which products exfoliate. That might help with your question.

    hey Kat,

i wish i had your skin *issues* : ) But then again, when i was younger I wanted to have skin like the model stefanie seymour, then she shows up on proactiov commericals talking about her struggles with acne..OMIGOD, maybe I did get my wish ahhhhhhhh!! Are you using a heavy body moisturizer????that could be clogging your pores. Anyway, try switching clothing detergents or changing your diet, make sure you drink enuf water. witch hazel toner on the face and a body scrub may be all you need. Or visit a good dermatologist for advice, blackheads on the arms (I won't lie) are a bit unusual but be happy it's not bad acne on the face!!! A derm may know a lot more about what could be causing your specific problem, it could even be allergic you never know. Anywya, it really is minor and solvable>and it should not be causing you as much stress as it is....By the way, do you live in a very humid area? Or do you have a job where you have to wear tight fitting clothes that aren't breathable? that could be the cause of your body's clogged pores>investigate more wacky causes too!!!

well, i tried jojoba oil as a moistorizer, but it seems it brings bumps on the surface, and they usually hurt. so i might look for something else.

i use physioderm salicylic wash, and i jsut ran out of my glycolic treatment 10%. but it seems that glycolic doesn' do much right now, i wonder if the aha oil free from alpha hydrox is better.

i also use dickinsons witch hazel, but somehow i really don't like that one. maybe the 14% alcohol in it.

i do live in florida and let me tell ya, it is humid as can be, and yes my skin got worse since i moved here 3 years ago from germany. but when i was living in germany i had the same problem, just not as bad. but it is so weird that my arms, and everything else is clogged. i wonder why. i tried to use other detergent with no perfume whatsoever in it, but that didn't help. i even tried to go in the ocean a lot, but that made it worse, of course it brought everything to the surface.

that's the thing sometimes when this happens i don't know if something is working or not. should everything come on the surface, but what if that lasts too long?

today my skin got worse again, if i could just show you how it looks and what i get out of my skin every day(of course that will never happen, lucky you :P ) underneath my jawline lately that's where it became really bad.

my arms back and chest look terrible, because of picking, and i can't stop, i am so obsessive compulsive.

i do have depression and social anxiety, more depression though, and i had it since my teens, i am wondering if that will make it worse also, although i had some good times in the past, and yet my skin wasn't great.

i amalso wondering if i should try microdermabrasion cloths. wha do you think?

sorry, that i am so selfish right now, i am not even helping others, but yet i can't.

I kinda figured you were not from here (US) Kat....actually since I am not a US "native resident" either, let me ask you this question then...are you feeling this about your skin AFTER you come to the US? I know that I didn't start feeling inadequate after coming here. I've been here for 12 years btw. I know you'll be mad at me for saying this, I think in your case specifically, you'll have to spend some effort (I did too) on figuring out what made you think your skin is bad. Could it be ALL that because of your skin, or perception, or in comparison with 'others'?

I am just trying to help...sincerely.

    oh no obi,

i always had bad skin, and i hated it my whole life, well actually 14 years now, since i am 28 already.

so, being here didn't make me feel worse, it's just it got even worse, because of the weather and maybe my depression, because i miss home so much other things. but my skin itself without even comparing me to others is just bad. i mean you won't see any huge pimples, but my whole complexion on my body is not normal, and it is obvious. not on pictures but in reality.

today i might go and get some essentiel oils mixed for oily skin.

i am still thinking to get some microdermabrasion for at home. first i have to know which one.

    where are yo from obi????????

    Heya Kat,

I'm starting to wonder if that is NOT acne. There are a few other things that make pimples but are not acne. A GOOD dermatologist should be able to tell you what is causing it. There is something that involves a problem with the hair follicles, I wish I could remember what it's called, but a woman and her sons who had it used some sort of topical prescribed by their derm. If you're very upset with your skin, first get a good (really good) doctor to tell you what this is. It might be very easily solved, but you might be trying all the wrong cures if it isn't acne. You know? And as for being homesick and depressed, *hugs kiddo*. I can get myself pretty stressed out and upset and I know how awful that can feel. Whatever is up with your skin and everything else, there are a whole lot of people who've come to like ya on this board. So you're stuck with this support group whether ya like us or not :P

    betterdays!!

you are so great, i hope you know that. it's so great that you try to figure out what the hell i have.

i would say i have comedonal acne. i mean i do get pimples but like i said that doesn't bother as much.

i will go to the derm. but for a long time i was sick of derms, never are they able to search for the cause or look at my skin very close. plus sometimes the light they use, is very confusing. sometimes you see things differently. last year before my wedding, the derm prescribed me antibiotic, and tazorac. but i took everything for 1-2 months. i don't want to use that harsh medications. plus i had to be carefull because we were trying to conceive. but that's on hold till next year.

i wish there would a dr. who listens and takes time, but that you can't find anymore, rarely.

    hugs

    kat

If its unclogging pores and exfoliating on a higher level than I recomend microderm thats what it is all about, plus it is a relaxing procedure, MUCH more comfortable than Glycolic acid peels
