This is a photo I took which shows how my skin looks today four years after I embarked upon my acne scar revision journey.
If you compare this photo to my February 2009 baseline photo of my face, you should notice massive improvement.
After doing some extensive research, I decided that I was going to read as many books and articles about acne scarring that I could along with books and articles about skin rejuvenation.
Based upon this research, I made some fundamental changes in my lifestyle.
1) I began to wear sunscreen seven days a week 365 days a year. I wash it off at night when I go to bed.
2) I began to take supplements and use topical Retin-A, Ester C, DMAE, and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
3) I began to incorporate ground flaxseed and diatomaceous earth into my diet - I drink a fruit smoothie everyday containing two tablespoons of ground flaxseed, one teaspoon of diatomeacous earth, one tablespoon of cinnamon, and various types of fruits loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C.
4) I exercise at least twice a week to ensure that I receive a good cardio workout so that the capillaries transporting the nutrients to my face are healthy and able to transport the nutrients my body needs.
5) I use a topical wash that my 85 year old aunt has used for years - I asked her how she kept her skin looking so good and this was one of the 'tools' in her arsenal. The wash contains ester C, green tea, and other natural products that protect your skin from oxidation and promote collagen development.
6) I use a facial scrub that helps to remove dead skin cells once a day.
7) Sometimes, I use a red/infared light on my face that I purchased from the ledman online.
8) I take 2000 ICU's of vitamin D everyday and three capsules of fish oil daily. The fish oil contains omega 3's which are vital to having vibrant looking skin.
These are some of the changes I've made to my diet and lifestyle. My doctor told me that I could help improve my skin from the inside/out by changing my diet and he was right.
I hope that this helps give some hope to some of you out there who think that your skin can't be improved. I say that there IS hope.
