Looks pretty localised to the chin area which probably points to it being hormonal. Personally, I don't think it looks too bad at all and it's very mild. It's a bonus that it's just in one area and, honestly, looking at the picture overall it isn't particularly noticeable.

Severity is relative sometimes, in terms of how it makes you feel. We're our own worst critics and most of probably do make more of it than we should because we focus in on what we perceive as being the negative and thing we don't like.

Even if it is mild, it's an indication of something. Acne is essentially the bodies way of telling you something isn't quite right. If your acne is indeed hormonal, it could be indicative of some kind of imbalance or something like that. Perhaps that's an area you could look into in terms of treatment and it's obviously something you could consult your doctor about. There's plenty of information and options talked about in the hormonal section of the message board as well so that could be worth a look.

Whatever course of action you decide to take and however you treat it, here's hoping you can clear your skin to the point where it doesn't bother you

    Hi PaulH85,

Thanks for your comment. I went to the doctors about a month back, and to cut a long story short, it turns out I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, so you were right about it being an indicator that something else wasn't right.

Anyway, unfortunately it's not curable, but the symptoms can be treated and managed, which is a relief :)

I've tried to stop focussing on my spots so much too, which has been partly successful.

Anyhow, thanks again for your comment, it was helpful.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I know of a number of people on the message boards who finally got to the bottom of things when they found out they had PCOS. Far from a good thing to find out, I'm sure, but you said, it can be managed and treated. Where acne is concerned, it also means that you know what's behind it and can target it more efficiently. Hopefully you can not take the best course of action to get that under control, then you'll be able to let go of those insecurities and not focus on your skin. Keep trying and you'll get there. :)
