Nose blackheads

My problem is excessive sebum production in my nose that has resulted in almost all my nose pores getting clogged. My forehead and cheeks also have a number of blackheads - comments please!

you have very mild acne. I think that retin-a might unclog those blackheads though

go get a deep cleansing facial about once a month with extractioons. Those are rowdy blackheads so i dont think medicine will help. Make sure you wash face with warm water and a acid wash. people normally dont pay attention to that kind of shit anyway cause 8 out of 10 people get them.

Well technically this acne is mild/moderate as there are easily more than 20 comedones.

What you mean is it is not inflammatory which is true, but it is persistant as I have had blackheads like this for the past 6 years since I was 18, and before that I had moderate inflamatory acne which went away as I aged.

I have been using tazorac, the strongest topical, for the last year to deal with this, but the fact my nonse gets so oily means the pores keep replugging themselves and turning into blackheads.

I am rather fed up of it!

Fight oil with oil. Like dissolves like-basic chem-I'm not kidding-those blackheads need to be dissolved-I use deep cleansing oil by DHC and after cleansing my face my pores are cleaner and tighter-the oil wash is designed to rinse away cleanly with no residue and it does-And it never breaks me out or clogs me up-harsh soap and water won't do shit-

And don't overdo extractions I read one derm say that can leave pores permanantly enlarged

I used to have pretty severe blackheads on my nose as well. I bought that loreal Microdermabrasion kit and it really has helped. You might give that a try. It cost about $20 and you can find it at any drugstore or even walmart.

      "Fight oil with oil."

Fighting oil with oil is like trying to pop a balloon with a balloon.

Actually, there are a couple of pretty interesting threads in the Research forum right now that deal with linoleic acid ... this is a fatty acid found in olive oil, safflower oil, etc. Apparently its presence in the skin plays a pretty important role in preventing comedone formation. So don't be too quick to write off the oil theories.
