trucetrucetruce 0 Posted July 25, 2008 If you have insurance, go to a derm and see if you could try a course of accutane to take care of the cysts first and worry about the scars after you're clear. Good luck! Share this comment Link to comment
b4byfac3 0 Posted July 26, 2008 Omg I know how you feel. My skin used to be perfect and then BAM, I start to break out =(. Hopefully you'll recover~~ Share this comment Link to comment
kat17 0 Posted July 28, 2008 cortizone shots could help both the inflamed and scarred spots Share this comment Link to comment
shigella 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Lol, yeah lucky me. I thank God that only my chin is involved ( Seeing the glass half full ) Unfortunately, I don't have insurance yet. My skin was so great that people used to comment on how great it was. I did have very mild forhead acne when I was 16 but that went away fast without treatment. I started Dan's BP when he made it the first time, I guess around 2006 when I first exploded. The zits went away, I got relaxed and didn't apply it as a prevention but only as spot treatment to the occasional zit or two after that. But those little zits piled up in 2 years and left me with scars...Lesson learnt: Use Dan's stuff REGULARLY On jult 1st I started exploding again and now have about 7-8 cysts on my chin in various phases of healing. I'm SCARRED!!! People make it a point of asking me all the time what these white spots on your chin ( Hypertrohic scars ) Maybe it's acne excoriee as I pick on them a lot ( cant stop myself ) AND I have 4 month old right now so I naturally wanted to lose weight. Something tells me that at the exact time when I started the diet , I got these horrible cysts. I lost about 7 pounds in 10 days...I was literally starving myself...I guess that did it to me... I wonder when they will find the acne cure...It's like plague only worse...plague kills u, end of story , acne leaves u plagued for the rest of your life Share this comment Link to comment
rian202003 10 Posted August 3, 2008 I read about ways to treat Hypertrohic scars and found that some primary methods include compression therapy and intralesional injections of corticosteroids. secondary methods include Surgical scar revision which basically is excision. hope this helps you! naken 0 Posted August 25, 2008 I've read that hypertrophic scars are more easily treated than suppressed scars, so I think you will find an eligible scar treatment after you have dealt with your active acne. Good luck to you! Except for the problem area on your chin, your skin still looks really beautiful! Share this comment Link to comment
cvt 0 Posted August 31, 2008 I too would recommend treating the acne before the scars. For years I had the same recurring cysts on each of my cheeks. Everyone is differnet but Duac worked wonders for me-nothing did a thing. I've been using it as a spot treatment daily now for 1 1/2 years and don't develop cysts anymore...but was left with pretty bad scarring on the 'apples' of my cheeks from the cysts. I wanted to warn you though about getting cortisone shots. One side effect docs hardly ever mention is that they can cause atrophy of fatty and/or muscle tissue. I had one last year (thank got it was on my butt and not my face!) and it left me with a 3 inch hole where the fat was eaten away down to my muscle. My doctor said the fat won't grow back so I'm left with this for life. It's pretty gross and after doing research on it I found that the same side effect has occured with quite a few acne patients who had the injections in their face for pimples, cysts and also for keloid treatments. FiLipinoPrime 0 Posted September 5, 2008 I had these scars on the side of my temple before. I used vitamin E and it went away in 2 weeks. I thought I would have those ugly scars forever. The only thing i'm dealing with now is the indent scars and those are difficult. I have a theory of self injuring the scar and probably would forgot how the skin was and let the scab take care of it. Enchantress 0 Posted September 8, 2008 Hi there, Sorry that you've to go through this. I'm 25 and have lots of scars esp on my cheeks. So i can empathize. Anyways, from looking at your pic, it looks like your pores are terribly clogged. One of the misconceptions i always had was that acne prone skin deserved products which removed the dirt and oil and tightens open pores. I couldn't be more wrong. I broke out terribly despite always using products meant for acne prone skin. According to my therapist, it is the worst thing to ever do. You should apprently allow the pores to breath and oil to be secreted. Products that tightens pores and removes oil, interferes with this and pores becomes clogged internally and festers until a trigger causes it to erupt. And voila, a mega-huge pimple out of nowhere. So my advice to you is to swtich to basics. A mild cleanser like Dr Bronner's castille soap should be perfect. You might need to get those cysts drained to help with the healing. Please dont do it yourself. I suggest that you go see an aesthetician. They usually clean up the area and use specific needles to prick and drain the cysts. It might be slightly painful and take 2-3 weeks to heal but it really helps. Don't worry..it doesnt cause scarring and is only done on pimples which are ready to be popped. So make sure they're professionals. Spas sometimes offer such services. Well, good luck. hope this helped. Share this comment Link to comment

renie69 0 Posted March 29, 2009 Your pic could have been of my chin for the last 6 months or so. And I'm 39 yrs old! Ugh. I've started Retin A again, and slowly, but surely, the little white under-the-skin scars are going away....and best of all, no NEW cysts. But I had 5 or 6 big active ones when I started Retin A again, and they are in various stages of healing....red, peeling, etc. Retin A might be worth a shot for you, too! UC 951 0 Posted April 24, 2009 Hmm. In the end it probably won't be too bad. Get on attack mode on whatever acne you may have, obviously the best way to prevent scarring. I wouldn't touch the cysts. If they are huge and lingering, I have heard of a thing called acne extraction. I'm guessing they like take the stuff out with a needle? idk. Which leads me on to what I would consider another concern. I probably would be skeptical of doing any invasive surgery to correct the scars. In the end they probably won't be too noticeable to other people, obviously to you they will be though. Yeah I'd try spot treatment Fraxel treatments at low energy first to test your skin. There are probably creams and topicals to aid in the scar. p.s. im not a dermatologist, this is the way I'd go about in attacking the situation without physically attacking it. Niesha5683 0 Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) I have the same thing. When I was in highschool it was mild, but when I went off to college it got HORRIBLE (The picture inserted). I still have the scarring and get break outs during a certain time of the month; but Neutrogena Rapid Clear cleanser and the spot gel worked WONDERS! It may also be your water.... Edit: Just noticing how old this is lol Edited April 29, 2016 by Niesha5683 Share this comment Link to comment
