cry.gif Ok all.. i'm finally starting Claravis (accutane) today... I was on Erythocin for the past 1.5 months and my skin has been a little better.. however, today -- i just found nodules that came up on my chin and the side of my lip and on the side of nose (OUCH!) .. YUCK!

Anyhow... let me give you my story:

I have been dealing with acne since I was a teenager. It wasn't severe until about 2 years ago. All of a sudden, my face started breaking out and because of my "olive" skin, my face scarred easily and left purple marks where the acne was at. Of course, I have to admit that I picked at 'em just because the white heads looked TERRIBLE! =) anyhow, I have used a lof of the over the counter products.. even prescription products.. to no avail. Even the antibiotics didn't help until I used Erythocin. However, I was so fed up, my dermatologist suggested I take accutane. I'm a little skeptical because of all the "bad" stories of it not working or it coming back after the session. However, my dermatologist and aethetician (?) have encouraged me that accutane works and they have seen miraculous results from their patients. My dermatologist follows up with me and ensures that it is working. If the medication is too strong or too weak, he will be the one to adjust it. Or even it is working and I don't need the medication anymore, he'll advise me to stop taking it.

Anyhoo -- i'm blabbing... I am just so tired of this acne... I want my clear face again.. I miss my CLEAR SKIN!! My self esteem has taken a dive since then and even though I have lost weight since I first getting the acne, My self image is still VERY important to me.

I am hoping and praying that this will be the ABSOLUTELY last time i have to deal with this darn acne!!!!!!!!

Here's a picture of me at Halloween... eeewwwww!!!!

Your skin doesn't look terribly bad as you claim on text, it looks like you have a moderate acne case, accutane should definately and most likely work for you. The Best.

Good luck with your treatment! Just be patient, it doesn't work overnight. It does wonders for people though! Good luck!!

Thanks! I really appreciate the kind words. I know the pics don't look like i have really bad acne... but when I had clear skin for the most of my life... this is terrible. I have really oily skin and i'm tired of the sore nodules i get... Anyhow... It's only been 4 days so far and my nose is starting to get dry, as well as my mouth and my eyes.

I'm hoping for the BEST! =)

Too many people put too much stock in the side effects of accutane. If acne is changing your lifestyle and well being, then accutane is definitely a drug you should at least try. If after one month you can't handle the common side effects like the dryness, then get off of it.

I am currently on my 3rd course of accutane. My acne has come back it seems every 4 to 5 years. I don't really blame that on the accutane not working but it's due to the fact that acne runs in my genes. My dad had suffered from very bad acne and he has all the ice pick scars on his face to prove it. Thanks to my two previous courses of accutane I've been lucky to really have only two scars on my face that I got before taking accutane. If this 3rd course of accutane is really only a 4 to 5 year fix for me then it will be definitely worth it.
