Well, I'm about to start 'The Regimen' (oooooh) first thing next week. I'm just giving my skin a few days' worth of resting time before I start another treatment. Earlier this week, I did, however, try 10% benzoyl peroxide twice for just one day and it made a marked improvement very rapidly (as in, by the next day my skin was significantly less red). So that recent experience has given me enough optimism to think that Dan's regimen might actually work for me.

I did the Accutane thing just over a year ago, and it helped an incredible amount, but just as I feared, my skin has relapsed. The same thing happened to my older sister, and while she's already coughed up the dough for another Accutane treatment, I'm considering less expensive (and annoying) options.

I tried a month-long trial for Proactiv and finished it a couple of weeks ago, and to be honest, it seemed to be having the adverse effect, not to mention the quantity I was getting for the price I paid was somewhat pathetic. Granted, it was just a month, but I thought the whole point of going on a trial is to see at least some improvement, or enough to have you willing to fork out for the six-month package. I've been left thoroughly unconvinced.

Anyway! Unfortunately due to lighting these photos appear more flattering than they actually are, but they aren't too far off from the reality. My acne was getting really bad (as in, the worst it has been since before my Accutane treatment) just a week ago, but that very brief stint of 10% benzoyl peroxide has helped to mitigate it a lot since then. (I'm just too leery to continue such a treatment as is, as I've been told that 10% is almost fruitlessly irritating compared to smaller percentages.)

Also, I use Eucerin as a moisturizer. It's great stuff, and has SPF 30! Unfortunately, it's pretty costly. I don't know if I'll be getting it regularly in the future; I suppose it depends on whether or not I can find any more economical alternatives. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

Cheers!

Thanks for wishing me luck! I'll need it, as my skin has been an absolute wreck for the past few years, and I'm really getting aggravated with it. As I said, these photos are not only more flattering due to the lighting, but this has also been the best my skin has been in a while.

Anyway, I've started with the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide today. My skin is already really dry, even after using moisturizer this morning. It's very flaky and looks like I have some sort of face-dandruff. :-P Not really sure what I'm doing wrong, if I'm doing anything wrong (it might just be my skin being overly sensitive which wouldn't be a big surprise), but hopefully after a week I'll see an improvement in its reaction to the treatment...

You may have started out with too much bp too soon, if you are flaking after just one application. Try using just a small amount for the next week or two, and gradually increase the amount.

Alright, I'll try that. I started with a half-finger since I figured my face was used to it after the Proactiv, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to start from the ground up again.

    Thanks.

    Why are you using BP?

YOU DONT HAVE A ACNE PROBLEM!

BP is known to make your skin worse before it gets good, Dont use it. I think I had a reaction to it have a look at my gallery it made mine worse, if you want to look after your skin. Dont use BP, use a gentle cleanser 2x a day, I use dermalogica for cleansing, toning and moisturising, and exfoliating.
