Your skin is looking great! Keep it up.

Look closely.. would you say this is "red marks left after acne"?

Just checked out your gallery. Great results. You are an example of one of those people who need to stick with it, so I'm glad you did. When in doubt, more BP too. Hopefully that'll get you even clearer.

It's difficult to tell, but if they are flat and there is no active acne left, then yes that is probably post-acne hyperpigmentation. You might try one of the AHA lotions, these can help exfoliate and even out the skin tone. But, if you spend a lot of time in the sun (I think you mentioned surfing?....) you should protect with spf, especially when trying to fade those redmarks and using AHA products. Maybe Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion as your moisturizer would help them resolve a bit quicker.

Otherwise, the quickest way is a professional peel which would require a dermatologist.

there is like 3 little lumps coming up under the skin on my right side and what id call mild acne under the skin on my left side. My skin at the moment is good enough to shave over which i havent done in so long. thanks for all those recommendations, i have a dermatologists appointment tommorow so im keen to hear what they'll say, (i just hope he doesnt recommend something that will make me BREAKOUT!) its like $130 aus bucks to see him, just to see him, it will be good explaining to him my skin cause ill probably just get him to have a look on this website or bring in a cd with all the slideshow pictures, the doctor like 2 months ago referred me to him to get accutane. otherwise im going to continue what im doing. except start putting sunscreen on my face cause im getting a lil burnt, and that could make the red marks redder.

So the dermatologists says that Ill need roaccutane as it will not go away just with going to the beach. I have to get a blood test (for mainly liver), Stop taking vitamin A for a week. Then I will be taking 10mg of Roaccutane for first month over a duration of 9 months where i will gradually increase up until 40mg. What do you think? Considering my acne is quite passive now with only a few (about 5 lumps) active pimples and the remaining acne being red marks and scaring and indentation?

Hey Josh, considering that you have absolutely improved so much, its a really hard decision to make.

The really important thing to consider here is that you might get the initial breakout, you have improved so much so breakouts now would be really depressing.

From our emails, you probably recalled that my acne was very similar to yours and I have been on roaccutane 40mg for first two months then down to 20mg after that, I'm now on day 95 and I'm still breaking out albeit to a lesser extend than the initial breakout I had which was absolutely atrocious, but now looking at you and comparing it with my results, you have cleared up really weel but I'm still pretty much the same. But the booklet did say "after getting worst, will see gradual improvements from 2 to 4 months into the treatment". So at the moment I'm really questioning my wisdom of going on it in the first but maybe I'll give it another month to see what happens...

I guess you really have weigh up the pros and cons and decide for yourself. Some of them might be:

Pros: will get even clearer, no future scarring, skin looks toner

Cons: intitial breakout (big issue), cost & continual visit to derm (expensive), won't inprove any scars prior to taking 'tan, major change to daily routine

If you decide to go on it, make sure you asked for all the pamplets and info on what products you should use.

Hit me up if you need more info.

The reason for the dosages is this..

Im a 80kg male. the reason for this is he (the derm) says doing it this way will stop you from it breaking out on you, and it will stop you from getting cracked lips.. Which i(myself) think is good cause my acne is better then ever at the moment. What do you think of this?
