I was in the same position you are several years ago!!! I went through about 4 months of accutane and for the most part have stayed clear. I do break out occasionally but definitely not with the cystic acne and it typically only last for the most a week.

I hope that you have success with the accutane ( I am sure that you will)... and keep your head up. I know it is hard to because you feel that all that people see is your acne but soon you will be clear.

If you ever want to chat, feel free to msg me.

Good luck and have a happy holiday season!!! :(

Hi Julesflor

I appreciate your encouragement. I really try not to let my acne get me down (especially when everyone around me has perfect skin =)). It's good to know that your acne is now under control! Have you been using retin A and minocycline since you completed your accutane course?

No, I just recently started the mino and duac/retina a in July. I started to notice breakouts and decided to visit the derm just to keep them under control, but this is the first time I have used anything for acne since I completed my course of accutane. I think I finished accutance two years ago ( I honestly can't remember). Anyway, it is only small breakouts every now and again that I get. The thing that I am battling is the scarring for the cyctic acne. They were so big and under the skin and I waited too long to go to the derm. Fortunately there are procedures out there to lessen the scars but they are costly so I am having to wait a little while before I can get any laser treatments done.

Well, I love your positive attitude....and I am glad you decided to take accutane. It will definitely benefit you.

Julie :(
