sebaceous hyperplasia/hypertrophic scarring on my chin

I thought this was all hypertrophic scarring, but my derm thinks it's mostly enlarged oil glands i.e., sebaceous hyperplasia. I will be starting a 0.5mg course of Roaccutane in Oct 2006 to see if this shrinks them. (Taken Spring 2005)

Hey good luck with the treatment in October. I have something similar on my chin as well, it looks just like your picture and I have no idea what to do about it! I usually spend ages trying to buff it away, but it is very resilient!! Make sure you let us know how you go!

Hi sorry I've not been on here lately, started a new job and all. Been very busy.

I started on the Roaccutane exactly one month ago. So far I'm very happy with the results. One of my major issues was oilyness. My face was litterally an oil slick, I would have to blot and powder throughout the day. The roaccutane stopped my oil production dead in it's tracks after one week. I can now do my makeup in the morning and it will stay in place flawlessly well into the night. This is a major hurdle overcome for me.

The dryness has not been a problem for me as long as I moisturise morning and night. I currently use a fade cream to get rid of the old marks and Eucerin face cream when I'm feeling extra dry. Only my lips get really dry at the moment and I just use vaseline throughout the day to combat that.

Regarding the hyperplasia, I do think the ones on my nose are shrinking and my chin looks a lot smoother. I definitley feel more confident anyway. It's been a little hard to judge because I did get somewhat of a breakout around week two which is only just clearing up. The breakout just happened to be in my two worst areas: nose and chin, so I've not yet seen these areas really pimple free in about two weeks.

When I get more time I'll join in the discussion in the main forum. But if you have any questions feel free to throw them my way.

I have scars exactly like yours. They are hypertrophic and not ice-pick.

So what are you doing for them?

I haven't seen a derm yet but I'm fed up of these scars, all over my chin , sides of my nose and a little on the forehead , which I guess is sebaceous hyperplasia.
