  1. Spironolactone Updated

Been dealing with hormonal acne since I hit adulthood. Started spiro 100mg/day on 12/19/17. Some dry mouth. Drier skin than normal, but not noticeable after moisturizing. Few days of mild breast tenderness that resolved. No dizziness, fatigue, hair loss.

  2. Spiro Journey Updated

I wanted to share this before/after for those struggling w hormonal acne. Spironolactone was a godsend for me. Did accutane twice and it didn’t work— tried every topical remedy you can think of. Spiro works!! Just be patient. (left) when I started it in 2011(right) today, 2018. Been off for 2.5 yrs.

  4. The Process Updated

Cystic nodular acne is a pain & can be a pill to deal with & heal. Spiro (50 mg) a day, Finacea and chemical peels have been the regimen for a few weeks now. This is the status as of present. I await clarity!

  5. help Updated

I have had acne for a few years and I do not know how to fix it. I have tried sacylic acid and benzoyl peroxide but neither of them work. Most of the time it looks okay but under bright lights, it looks really bad. Could it be pityrosporum follicullitis? Thanks

  8. Carl Granger Updated

Hello everyone! My name is carl, im 14 yrsold and welcome to may acne journeeeey!❤️ So my acne started about a year ago, and it got worse like 3 months ago. And im using epiduo and teranex soap bc my dermatologist told me that i should stop my skin care routin. So its my 7th day of using epiduo and teranex and my face is getting worse bc my dermatologisy told me that epiduo will make your acne worse for a bit, and then it will clear your face when your acne is no longer present on your face. So im going to update next week i think lol. Btw wish me luuuck!

  9. Ciann Updated

    HELP!!!!!!!

I’ve been dealing with closed comedones for almost a year now. I’ve tried everything; from using acne.org, supplements, Paula’s choice BHA... I finally went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me 0.05% tretinoin and spironolactone (which I stopped using due to the side effects), it’s been almost 2 months and I don’t know if I’m seeing results from using retin-A. My CC’s are on and off. I have a very oily T-zone and it’s uncontrollable!!!

I don’t know what to do and I’m running out of hope. I know it takes months even years for tretinoin to work but I’ve noticed that it leaves dry patches on my skin.

Does anyone know any regimen or solution to this? It’s affecting my social life and I never want to come out of the house due to my skin condition

  11. Jay Updated

As of today I started taking Minocycline 100mg 1qd (just for a week then I will start taking 2bid per my derm.) I also started taking Probiotic, Vitamin Calcium 1000mg, D3 600IU, Zinc 15mg, Mag 400mg and Vitamin E 400IU (I start taking these on my own) . My derm also precribed Tretinoin 0.05% but I wanted to wait to start that till I got some Cetaphil daily facial moisturizer with spf 15  and Cerave Foaming facial cleanser. ugghh my skin is horrible I hope this helps if not then he want to put me on accutane.

    **UPDATE:
On Friday 6/30 I took my second dose of minocycline per usual at 10pm I had officially been on it a month. Lorrrdd let me tell you I had the worse allergic reaction. Swelling (that were mainly focused on my joints knees, ankles, hips, wrist, knuckles, elbows and shoulders) the hives on the other hand where pretty much everywhere on me today (7/6) am not as itchy I still have some hives BUUUTT all my joints are back to their normal size. I’m going to see my PCP on Friday for hospital follow up (my derm was booked). Oh I forgot to mention I had to go to the hospital on Sunday because my lips started swelling I didn’t want to go because I know I was going to get a huge bill for something I could just wait out but everyone insisted and I went there they gave me Prednisone 60mg 1qd for 3 days (which made my joint ache more) and Hydroxyzine 25mg for the itching (that my friends helped ALOTT). Anyways fuck all that I rather have acne then try Accutane which has wayyy more side effects.

  14. retin-a micro: worth the wait? I took a picture of my face every week for 4 months Updated

When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pretty good understanding of how retinoids work, and I  knew  there would be a light at the end of the tunnel.

  16. update Updated

    regimen
    celeteque facial wash
    celeteque toner
    clindamycin sos
    bp 2.5%
    myra e moisturizer
    aha (every other night)

been breaking out a lot recently . for the past few weeks it was just small pimples. now it's big pimples. fortunately it's just localized on my right cheek and it's not everywhere. i dont have 100% clear skin as i do have a lot of small comedones and i don't expect 100% clear skin. i just hope these big zits go away!! hopefully this stops. i havent been using the recommended full amount of bp for the longest time( because it gives me the reddest and dullest skin) and it was working fine until now.

  17. Doxycycline & Retina A Updated

I recently had a terrible acne flare up. I have been suffering from acne since I was 10 and I'm 29. I had two laser treatments and the last round cause some serious flare up. The Derm recommended Accutune but I"m afraid of the side effects. Today is my first day tying Doxycycline and Retina A . I hope it works. I'm also trying it on my back.
