ANY QUESTIONS JUST ASK!! I have mild to sometimes moderate acne.. I've never had severe acne but it has been persistent. I've struggled with it for about 8-9 years on my chest, back, neck, and face. I'm a senior in college studying engineering and just turned 21 a couple months ago. I had moderate to severe acne on my back and shoulders until I cut dairy out of my diet a couple years ago, but the acne on my face and neck just will not go away. I've tried clindamycin phosphate topical with salicylic acid wash when I was in HS, to doxycycline a few years ago (5 month treatment), to benzoyl peroxide wash last year, to minocycline with a tretinoin retinoid this year (2 months). Antibiotics would clear me up for the most part, but the effects they would have on my stomach always made me want to get off of them. I also have no faith that if I stayed off of antibiotics, that my acne would stay away and I would stay clear. I finally made the decision to go on accutane after I seeing two of my friends just complete their trials with absolutely amazing results. I started my journey on November 17th, 2018 and I am currently on 60mg/day. I am 6'0" and about 180 lbs. I do a decent amount of lifting and working out and eat quite healthy compared to most college students. Again, my acne on my face and neck has never been severe, just persistent and some days, not pleasant. I've been fed up with dealing with it for a long time. So here we go. My journey through Accutane. FINGERS CROSSED!

I'll keep an eye on your progress.

I can't get rid of my chin acne, no matter what I do. And Accutane does not work for everyone.

Good luck. :)

Hey Paul, thank you and you too!! I'm nowhere near an expert in acne remedies or anything but heres my experience.  Usually when I get acne on my chin and around my mouth my diet isn't as clean as it should be, I am very stressed, or I am touching my mouth area too much for whatever reason. In terms of my diet, too much dairy intake ( i can manage a little and be ok), highly processed food like protein bars or chocolate (my weakness), or spicy foods tend to really break me out. Also hand foods that get messy like big sandwiches or burgers have given me trouble. Keep your hands away from your mouth and moisturize moisturize moisturize especially in the winter. I hope this helps.  Are you sure its not a type of staph infection if it continually is occurring?? Some times people need more than 1 round of accutane too.

Thanks, I try to keep junk food/dairy/meat/chocolate away from my mouth. But it's hard to deal with the stress and maybe that's one of the reasons. I usually get the whiteheads overnight, it's so annoying to wake up with red chin and painful whiteheads. And no, it's not my pillowcase. I started using pine tar soap week ago, morning and before bed, and my chin is better now, not perfect, but not so red and seems like I get less whiteheads. And yes, I need to reduce stress somehow...

For sure, everything is fine in moderation. Stress is def the biggest factor for me getting acne. It seems like accutane is doing wonders for my skin right now though. Have you tried a second trial of accutane maybe?

To be honest, I have never tried Accutane. But it didn't worked on my friends. And I don't really want to risk with the side effects of it, since the only bad area of my face is around my mouth. + I clear sometimes but get new pimples after 3 or 4 days . :(

I never had bad acne but it was always persistent so I was fed up and went on Accutane. One of the best decisions of my life. Two of my close friends went on it and saw amazing results. It has changed my lifestyle but not dramatically. I drink probably 2x the amount of water I used to and I almost abuse chapstick/ lip therapy. I can't currently life heavy because of lower back aches from it and my scalp, back, and shoulders get quite itchy sometimes. But it feels amazing not having to use a face wash everyday or worrying about eating a certain food that'll cause a breakout. Even just waking up and not finding new zits is a blessing in itself.  It's already given my confidence and swagger back and Im only a month in. I woud absolutely recommend it, the benefits are definitely outweighing the side effects for me right now and I think Im already past the initial breakout/ acclimation phase.  good luck with everything though!
