i always get steam off the hot water on my face when im washing my hair and it seems to hydrate it. You can always try it and see what happens, if it doesn't work for you just stop

I don't know if it's good for skin, but I notice it tends to open up my pores, allowing me to get junk out through exfoliation or some other way.

Steaming gets the toxins out of the skin. Estheticians always include steaming as a crucial step during facials. When the pores are open, this is a good time to do a clay mask to further draw out the toxins. Then, after rinsing off the mask, apply a water-based moisturizing product to seal the moisture in your skin.

If you steam and don't use a moisturizer afterwards, your skin can dry out.
