From what I have learned in my own experiences, Milk is bad, shaving is irratating, Sweating is good only if you drink a lot of water. If you drink a lot of soda and then sweat a lot, Not so good, lol. Protein shakes are bad too. Those mess me up a lot.

What exactly can protein do to make people breakout?

So...Do these daily things have serious effects on acne/oil control?

True or False?....

Drinking Milk

For me, yes. I'm lactose intolerant. I think soy milk is great.

Drinking Protein Shakes

Not protein itself. But alot of them contain processed sugars and artificial colours & flavours. That's where you run into trouble IMO.

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating

The weightlifting can increase Testosterone levels, which most likely exacerbates your acne. It can plateau though. Sweating, only if you don't rinse it off soon after.

Sleeping on one side of your face

I honestly don't have an opinion on this.

Masturbating 1 time a day

No. Masturbation is very natural.

Shaving facial hair daily

Everyday shaving for me would cause alot of irritation. Irritation=Acne alot of the time.

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne

Definately, if it's not for comedogenic reasons, it's probably through irritation.

Taking a MultiVitamin

If it contains Iodine, it may exacerbate it.

I have a 1.5% zinc shampoo I am going to start using

Taking a MultiVitamin

Yes it has 100mcg of Iodine. I should avoid it? Also what do you think is the best bet for reducing shiny and oily looking skin.My skin is very oily after about 15 mins from washing it and the summer is coming :( .

That should be fine. Just monitor for irritation to your forehead. Avoid contact with your skin as best you can.

Iodine is said to exacrebate acne, but this is much disputed. It's probably something that's a low factor IMO. However, you might aswell avoid taking it in your Multivitamin as it's easy to just get one without Iodine.

As for the oily skin, that's a result of your Sebaceous gland producing excess oil. Sebum is it's technical name, you'll hear that thrown around alot.

Accutane is the most potent form of oil control, it dries up the Sebaceous gland. That's obviously not advisable if your acne isn't bad though. Accutane is what's known as an isotretenoin, it's a derivative of Vitamin-A.

I think you should look around here, look into Retinoids/Retinols. They're topical, Vitamin-A derived products. Might be what you need to combat oiliness.

I'm actually using a product that contains retinol, it's called Diacneal. You might want to watch my log and see how my oiliness goes. It also contains Glycolic Acid, i believe that can help with oiliness. My Log.

If you're not interested in retinods, you may want to consider products such as Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid etc.. AHA's and BHA's... (Alpha Hydroxy Acids - Beta Hydroxy Acids) Google is a great resource, and ask around in here!

Let me know anyway.

I have tried to get accutane from my dermatologist but he refused to give it to me.I am going to a new doctor in alittle over a month I will mention to him retinods.my old derm never brought them up.As for AHA and BHA my acne is too bad for them if i just stick with them my face will break out and i can't stay on them. The most results I get is with BP.I ordered Proactiv will that be good for oily skin? and if Proactiv doesn't work I can just try to get accutane agian. Also I used to use Tyrosum Packets by summer labs it was just Alcohol and Acetone Topical pledgets. They stopped making them do you know of anything similar ? That I can just wipe my face with before I run out of my house.

Drinking Milk - I find cows milk breaks me out but only a tiny bit - yet cheese and yogurt have not effect. bizzare?

Drinking Protein Shakes - I have never had a 'protein' shake before so I wouldn't know. I don't actually understand what they are for, unless you are trying to bulk up really quickly maybe?

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating - I dont do heavy weights (i'm not being much help here am I, lol) But theres nothing wrong with a good bit of sweeting ;) as long as you keep your body hydrated at all times with water, and splash your face with water after (if that gets sweaty too)

Sleeping on one side of your face -hmm this is one i'm not so sure about...I am still finding out for myself to be honest. I think sleeping on my side with my cheeks smoshing into the pillow actually does agravate my acne a bit... but it is SO difficult sleeping on my back! So I'm a bit stuck..

Masturbating 1 time a day - Theres is certainly nothing wrong with a bit of that! But I don't know it it's different for guys...different hormones an such.

Shaving facial hair daily - haha, thats not something I have to do thankfully...

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne I find certain shampoos do actually break me out on my forehead. So I'm now very fussy with what I use and I usually buy shampoos/conditioners from specialist herbalist/HealthFood shops. My shampo ATM is called Australian Organics; it's lovely and smells devine because of all the natural oils in it. I am very sensitive to sulfates so I try to avoid using anything with SLS in the main ingrediants.

Taking a MultiVitamin my acne has also calmed down since I stoped taking a multi-vitamin. I eat so much bloody fruit and veg I don't need one now anyway. I do take 30mg zinc a day thought because I was on long-term tetrecyline a while back, and this antibiotic can caus deficiencies in Zinc.

Sweating can make it worse temporary, can also start but not serious acne as far as i know.

Masturbating once a day is too much if it done one a long run lets say 3-5 months.Specially if your in your early teens.,its like if your gonna have fast food everyday your most likely gonna become fat.I know lot of people dont believe masturbation causes acne but you will see most people who are into sex and masturbation exccessivly which is once a day/or more are acne prone, the ideal amount should be 2 times a week as far as the doc's i have talked to.

only thing i'll give you man, is I used to drink alot of milk/protein shakes right around when i started breaking out. Dont know if thats what caused it, but thats the only thing i'll say can go both ways. Everything else you posted, is false, and the milk and protein is probably false, but i can't say for certain that it is based on experiences. And no sweat and dirt in my opinion does not cause acne, because up until i was 13, i played baseball all the time in the summer, and i always had a sweaty/dirty face from the field, and i never washed my face when i got home, only time i would wash my face was when i showered every night, and i never ever got a pimple during that time. When i did start getting pimples, my baseball days of lots of sweat and sometimes some dirt on my face were long over with. I would literally sweat alot all over my face from sports back then, and i never washed my face, i let it dry up, and i never ever got any acne during those times.

So...Do these daily things have serious effects on acne/oil control?

True or False?....

Drinking Milk

Drinking Protein Shakes

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating

Sleeping on one side of your face

Masturbating 1 time a day

Shaving facial hair daily

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne

Taking a MultiVitamin

1. Yes milk will not help acne for a) its MAX on the acid scale of foods b) if so far removed from nature it is hardly absorbed....drink goats milk, cultured if you can or not at all

2. Excess protien is very acidic for you body, it will not help you blood ph which should be ALKALINE! whcih most people have no fuking idea about. Will it cause acne NO along with milk it wont cause but will be a negative to your body in fighting it

3. Weightlifing will help you body fight acne...sweating will CAUSE acne by this i mean you will get spots VIA sweating but only because this is a detox for the body!!! remember bad breath foul body ouder is from an over acidic diet and sweating is a secondry eliminator of toxins which your body is always fighting to do so sweating only speeds this reaction by then pushing it out the skin!

4. People advocate this does not help...tbh I think its B/S and dont worry about that...remember EVERYBODY HAS ACNE ONE THERE SKIN even people who dont have acne have it...so why do we get it and they dont? (too long to type here email me lol)

5. People are for and against this theory as causeing acne...im 50/50 on it because when u have sex etc you release lots of hormones....and exccess hormones with a weakend liver leads to acne...but im unsure if the hormones from sex affect the liver in the same way spiking blood sugar does - which causes a spot!

6. This is tricky...use a Double edge shaver and a badger brush and high quality shaving cream if you have acne and shave!!! remember skin irritation can cause acne or shaving rash which ever way you look at it http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886845/ check this about shaving! but my findings of THE BEST SHAVE HUMANLY POSSIBLE still leads to rashes and acne even irritation free shaves...if you face cant handle it like mine your only option is dry shaves with clippers which dont cut as close but at least its close enuff without ONE SPOT or shaving rash :o

7. Hmm depends TBH id say no on the fact its hardly on contact with your face long...aslong as your not roguh with it on your skin then its ok...but if its full of pore clogging stuff then it wont help!

8. This will sure help acne even aslong as they are natural and not synthetic

Drinking Milk

Possibly, for me anyway. 3-4 weeks without milk now and no large cysts.

Drinking Protein Shakes

I don't drink em, so don't know.

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating

Nope.

Sleeping on one side of your face

Yes.

Masturbating 1 time a day

I don't do that a lot lol, maybe once a month or so, so can't say for sure.

Shaving facial hair daily

Either very small numbers of really small ones, or none at all on my face. I tried shaving... elsewhere... and I get really small ones popping out all at once after 1-2 days. And I'm talking 2-3 dozen or so.

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne

Nope. But I do get them when I use special acne specific cream moisturizer, which I thought was hillarious. Useless.

Taking a MultiVitamin

Been taking multivitamins for months now, it either has no effect whatsoever, or improves my acne slightly.

Weight lifting increases testosterone, yes, but I don't think it's the same thing that's encouraging acne. Just look at pictures of huge bodybuilders like Arnold...no acne at all.

Drinking Milk

I stopped drinking milk a long time ago, now that school is starting I'll try to drink other stuff like juices

Drinking Protein Shakes

I don't know, I'm not into that suff

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating

In the last few days I sweated a lot, I heard somewhere that sweating opens pores and bring out

the the acne under your skin... maybe it's good?

Sleeping on one side of your face

I don't really now, but I try to sleep on my back every night

Masturbating 1 time a day

Yes, maybe, because it's a hormone thing... I try not too

Shaving facial hair daily

Maybe... I havn't started shaving *shaving yet but I do get some hair sometimes... I get a brand new razor

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne

Yes, that's what i guessing. I don't let the shampoo get on to my face

Taking a MultiVitamin

I don't take them.

I wouldn't say "serious" effect, or significantly reduces, but the ones where I say yes I mean they play some part and make it worse, but not the cause of.

Drinking Milk : YES (have switched to soya milk, and am ok with small amounts of normal milk)

Drinking Protein Shakes : MAYBE (have had some, but not enough to be conclusive)

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating YES (tends to make cystic acne only more frequent for me)

Sleeping on one side of your face : NO (although most of the time I guess I have no real idea what position I'm in when I'm asleep).

Masturbating 1 time a day : NO (however more frequently then yes, generally I'm a one a day person, if ever I've upped to 3 then I notice a small difference)

Shaving facial hair daily : NO (however causes some irration and redness often)

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne : NO

Taking a MultiVitamin : NO

True = causes acne, False = doesn't cause acne

Drinking Milk

True- milking cows are injected with rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) (and other various medications to increase milk production) and they are extremely stressed-out in a crowded cage separated from their babies. Can't be good drinking milk injected with hormones in them. These hormones and other drugs increase the cows' utters so much that the cows are in pain and the utters get infected from poor health. The resulting product (=milk) contains drugs, puss, and blood. I usually drink organic soy milk.

Even if cow milk doesn't give you acne, it can't be good for your overall health. Also, there is absolutely no evidence that milk prevents osteoporosis.

Cow milk is for baby cows. Human milk is for human babies. I don't know, but I wouldn't drink a gorilla's milk.

Drinking Protein Shakes

True- I try not to drink/eat anything processed in factories that contain preservatives and artificial sweetners. You don't need to drink these shakes in order to get protein. Get protein from fish/beans.

Heavy Weightlifting/Sweating

False- excercising + sweating is good for you

Sleeping on one side of your face

False - I do this all the time. I can't help it. It's very comfortable to sleep on one side than the other or on my back. I don't get acne just because I sleep on one side more than the other side. I got acne from retin-a.

Masturbating 1 time a day

False - I can't believe people STILL think that masturbating gives you acne. LOL

Shaving facial hair daily

Depends - I think if you use blunt razors and the shaving cream/gel irritates, then, yes. You might get bumps.

Using some hair gel/shampoo cause forhead acne

True - When I use hair conditioners or sprays, I get a couple of bumps on my forehead. I also get bumps if I use heavily scented hair products. I don't use anything else except for shampoo.

Taking a MultiVitamin

False- I take a multivitamin almost everyday. Doesn't give me acne. I actually feel a bit better on days that I take them.
