Should i use toner in the regimen?

Hi. Just wondering that after washing my face..should i apply toner before putting on BP and moisturizer? Will toner affect the regimen or worsen the acne? Thanks a million!

Dan explains that you are free to experiment with any additional products you wish. However, on the same note, he says that toners are not necessary, and following his 3 step method is the most effective.

If you are going to use a toner, use one with AHA in it (Alpha hydroxy acid), mainly lactic acid, or glycolic acid.

No you should not use toner in the regimen, adding anything into the regimen other then a basic cleanser, 2.5% BP and moisturiser may hinder its success :)

You can use a toner, but it's not necessary unless your cleanser leaves a residue on your face, which it shouldn't if it does. Also, I've heard that hard water can leave a potentially problematic film on the face. Look for one that is alcohol free and without irritants like peppermint, arnica, ylang ylang, lavender, rosemary, mint, menthol, camphor, clove, oregano, citruses, sage, and the like. It would be really convenient to use a glycolic acid, lactic acid, or salicylic acid toner (assuming it has a pH of under 4, otherwise it won't be effective). Proactive makes a glycolic acid toner that I think is pH effective, but it's really expensive and they'll probably try and talk you into purchasing their entire line. Personally, I use Nivea Visage Moisturizing Toner, the best drugstore toner in my opinion, and then apply Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid or 8% AHA Gel after. Both exfoliants are pH correct and extremely gentle.
