Salicylic Acid? Does it work/is it safe?

Recommended Posts

SA is safe, but it doesn't work either. SA is better for blackheads than for imflammatory acne, so the idea of a SA spot treatment seems silly to me since spots are inflammatory. I had a little tube of Neutrogena Rapid Clear spot gel (which is an SA product) back when I didn't know any better about the different kinds of acne treatments, and it didn't do anything to clear up my acne.

SA does dry up the acne but it takes a while to work .. BP does dry up inflamed pimples and usuallt qworks overnight but it does nothing for black heads. BP is also so much more drying.

I use both the sa and the bp. I'm only 1 week into this regimen though, so I can't really give you any info on if it works or not. But as of right now, I'm lookin good.

heres my regimen:

wash with water

aveeno clear complexion moisturizer (o.5 SA)

dove soap

aveeno clear complexion moisturizer (0.5 SA)

spot treat with aveeno clear complexion correcting treatment (1 SA)

i think that the SA is working for my scars :crosses fingers: but now i just got a new breakout so if the SA clears it up ill let you know.

I SWEAR by Neutrogena's Clear Pore Treatment. It's a 2% SA gel, and it's the only product that has worked consistently for me. I've been using it for nearly a year.
