If I use a comedengenic product...

Recommended Posts

I was wondering...if I use a product that is comedengenic and I breakout from it, how long will it usually be before I start breaking out?

I ask because I have been breaking out all the time lately and I was thinking maybe it's my self tanner. This doesn't make much sense because I have been using the exact same self tanner for over a year and only began breaking out a couple months ago. I doubt it is my self tanner, but I'd still like to know how long it takes.

I would assume you would see the breakout overnight? Let me know your experiences and thoughts. Thanks alot all!

I find if it's a particular product I'm using, I'll usually begin to break out anywhere from a few days to a month of wearing it. Did the ingredients possibly change? That could be the culprit. . . .

It should take a week or two to see the first signs of cosmetic acne, which appear usually as a bunch of whitheads (not the big puss filled things.....those are pustules). These look like tiny flesh colored bumps. Some of these may go on to form papules, pustules or worse, within a few more weeks to a month depending on the severityof your preexisting acne.....

That being said.....I highly doubt it's a product you've been using for the past year with no problems....

We're so quick to blame cosmetic products for clogging up our pores, rather than our own sebum and our hyperkeratinized and irregularly desquamating skin cells........most often than not the latter the real culprit behind our breakouts than products.....
