Does the use of Accutane (Isotretinoin) increase collagen output? I have yet to ask my dermatologist this, but my GP advised me that it does increase collagen, thus helping with scarring. I have tried to do some of my own research to back her statements, but I have yet to find anything that explicitly says that Accutane does increase collagen output. Can anyone shed some light on this statement?

Have you searched the docs on the drug on the Roche site?

i am not professional so cant say but from my opinion it would not. I've heard and seen many stories on here of people complaining about how accutane caused scarring.. maybe its because it thins the epidermis and produces purging and break outs in the initial period thus damaging the skin later down the road?

with regards to the sources saying it does and doesnt, perhaps the contradictions lie within the drug companies not wanting to reveal the harsh truth?
