Retin-A Micro

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been using Retin-A Micro for about 6 weeks and though it does remove acne where I apply the cream, acne still breaks out in other places where I didn't apply the cream. Additionally, my face is extremely red and is constantly dry.

I was wondering what is the best moisturizer to use for the redness and dryness, and is there a reason why my acne continues to break out? Should I try something new?

Thanks.

why dont you just apply it everywhere then? retin-A is not a spot treatment, youre supposed to put it everywhere you get acne, not just individual spots.

i'm not sure about the moisturiser, but you should get a non-comedogenic one (doenst clog pores) that has sunblock in it, as retin-A makes you more susceptible to sun-burn.

It is normal to not see any improvement until 6-8 weeks of treatment with retin-a. You need to use it for at least 12 weeks to judge whether it is working or not. If you have not seen any improvemnt by 12 weeks, then switch to something else. Maximum results are not obtained until 4-6 months. I am on retin-a micro 0.1%, and love oil of olay complete for my moisturizer. It doesn't irritate my skin, it's oil, free, non-comedogenic, and has spf 15. Also, to reduce the irritation make sure you are only using a pea sized amount for your whole face.

I agree with the other post, retin-a is not a spot treatment, it helps to prevent new spots, so you need to apply it everywhere.
