Spironolactone (commonly abbreviated as "spiro") is a prescription drug that's been around for decades. It was originally designed to be used as a diuretic in the treatment of hypertension, but it was found out later that it also has antiandrogenic properties. It has been used occasionally for that second purpose by women (who can tolerate antiandrogenic drugs) for the treatment of androgen-related conditions, but not so much by men. On the other hand, experiments have shown that topical applications of spiro can have a moderate antiandrogenic effect, too, and topical spiro is sometimes used by both sexes for things like acne, hirsutism, and male-pattern hair loss. That's more of an experimental treatment, though...
