Birth Control and Antibiotics

Recommended Posts

Right now I'm on Retin-A .1% and Ambicillin (twice a day). I know antibiotics would make birth control less effective (I use a second form of protection). What is an alternative to oral medications? I use Retin-A at night, maybe i could ask my derm to prescribe me something in the morning to replace the antibiotics. I just don't feel comfortable knowing my BC is as effective as it can be.

I was given a topical antibiotic, clindamyicin. It doesn't effect the bc like the oral ones do. It works pretty well so far. Alot of people use duac (which is clindamycin +benzoyl peroxide) and I've heard really good things about that along with retin a.
