Meanest thing that someone has said about your acne

Recommended Posts

I was teased. Every single day by this guy in 8th grade. After that experience...I have never been the same about my acne. I let it control my life, sadly...

8th grade? Maybe he liked you lol.

No. He didn't. He was just a dick.

I am lucky enough to never have had people really say anything outright spiteful, but the one I've had was at the cafe that I work in. I brought over a tray of drinks did the usual smiley polite stuff, and as I'm leaning over, the kid, can't have been any older than 4 or 5, goes "Mummy that boy's got spots". It's funny thinking back on it, but at the time I was quite taken aback, and just pretended not to hear!

Ehh, not that mean but anyways, I was with my friend and he has a little sister, maybe about 3 years old and we're in the car and she ask me "what's the all red things all over your face?"

The embarrassment... eusa_snooty.gif

I think personally two things have hurt me the most

1. The school nurse who pointed out how "horrible" my skin looked and how painful it must be. I hadn't cared up until then - she forced me to the doctor's office (for useless antibiotics) and have had a complex ever since.

2. When I found out that a group of my oldest/closest friends had been making fun of my skin every time I left the room. This had been going on for ages. I only found out about it because some of my other friends happened to still be in the cubicles after I left the girls' bathroom. It sounds like the movie Means Girls, and it devastated me. I could hardly leave my house for 2 months because I thought everyone must me making fun of me behind my back.

I have had thousands of very cruel comments, some I have written on here, one more that just popped into my head...

A guy from work asked me why I bothered wearing eye make up and lip gloss when there were more important things to fix on my face ie. my acne! :(

Again, people thinking you can effing control it!!! Urgh.

Girl, I got an update: I was at work today and this kid approaches me and says: "Oh you have something on your neck..." At first I was confused, so I touched the area that he was talking about and realized that he was referring to my acne... I was so mad but I could not lose my temper cause of work (UGHHHH). I am sure he knew it was acne but he had to emphasize it.

I have a painful bump on my forehead, almost in the middle of it, so I suddenly remembered 10th grade in High-school when I had it in the same place:D
My classmate, who had a very mean sense of humour (softly said, lol), pointed out and said that now I look like a unicorn. That might be uncomfortable for some, but honestly I found that hilarious and laughed at it. I also said "One day you'll have a pimple in a shameful place and i promise I'll notice". :D She basically had quite flawless skin but I swear, some days later she got an angry pimple right in between of her eyes :D I smirked at her and said: "I see your third eye has opened!".
Now I don't believe in any crap like karma, but that was an amusing coincidence! :D

Kids are def. the worst. I was a Scout Leader and got it all the time "why are you spotty?" "do you have chicken pox?" Urrggg. To be fair though, they were equally enamoured with my boobs, so... lol.

I remember when I was about 12-13 years old, I had a very red swollen pimple on my nose and I was at a summer BBQ party, and this girl pointed at it saying "What's that on your nose" with a disgusted face. I feigned ignorance, thinking that would somehow "protect" me and I said "What..um, what are you talking about..." and she was like "Right there on your nose!! Don't you look at yourself in the mirror?!! It's SO BIG! ". Wow, geez, can't you yell it any louder, kid. I was about to cry but I held it in. And then my friend "came to my rescue" and told her it was a mosquito bite lol. I still cried once the girl left and everyone gathered around me trying to comfort me, telling me I'm still pretty and whatnot. Then I went to hide in the bathroom.

A "friend' once told me that one of my exes had gotten together with a girl who was "exactly like you, only hotter."

This friend didn't have a real way with words.

Didn't directly refer to my severe acne, but she did happen to have glowing, clear skin.

No one has said too much about my acne. A few years back some little boy called me "acne face." I still remember it because at the time it was extremely insulting to me. But now the worst part is the disappointment i feel when i see myself in the mirror.

Another incident just occurred to me, I offered to do my sisters make up for their night out and they sneered and said something along the lines of 'erm, no cos look at how you put yours on, I don't want mine looking like that'. They were referring to my 'over done, cakey, orangey foundation' used to desperately hide my acne but with no avail.

Was really hurtful because how I put my own make up on is not representative of how I would do someone elses - I am actually really artistic and extremely good at applying eye make up and retro liquid eyeliner on myself and other people.

Again, fed up of being so stigmatised over having acne, people should realise how much words hurt. Well, knowing my sisters and how they generally treat me, that was obviously their intention :( They said countless other remarks about my skin over the years too. One would look at me with such hatred and snarl 'spotty bitch' at me, they would constantly make it clear that they were considered far superior to me due to not having spots.

If my reality is just mine, then why do others experience the same thing? those people aren't in my neighborhood as far as I know in fact I'd bet they are in many different one's all over the country and you know what? it's the same thing every time. humiliation, negativity, sadness this isn't just a random coincidence, it's the way this world works. Those "charities" especially the real big ones I'm sure a spending that cash real well... in the Caribbean that is XD.

This world is corrupt, bleak, immoral, immature and again just trash. Are there good people? Sure, but in an ocean of trash is hard to see clear waters. Look, I think i do myself harm, the problem is I care to much about the state the worlds is in and I am not yet in a time where I could make any real difference.

ps: tell those plp to start an acne charity because lord know we need it lol that fake bum.

To the guy wanting to smack those, who think world isn't trash, back to reality - your reality is just yours. And again - the world doesn't end where your neighbourhood ends. If 100 pages of people ranting on acne forum is > than the input done by many compassionate people from various organisations, charities etc to improve the world at least a bit, well... I think it's obvious what really is trashy here. Someone's perception and pov... Very sad.

being told to kill yourself because you are so ugly isn't just my twisted perception of the world. it actually physically happened to me. a person actually felt like they had the right to tell me that for whatever reason. as if i wasn't human or worthy of anything but death. many other people have said similar things like that in different variations and again it wasn't me having a negative perception of the world. it actually happened. i have also had to get into physical confrontations with people just to keep some sort of self worth and pride. it is all very tiring.

reading other peoples posts and stories here I would have to only assume things aren't better in other peoples neighborhoods. i guess it is basically human nature. it is unfair to some of us. some of you can still skate by in life and be positive which is awesome. good for you! but please excuse us if some of us get angry.

It makes me so sad to hear what you and so many of us have had to put up with from nasty people just because we have a skin condition.

"dirty! nasty! like really loud so everyone can hear. . I just ignored her and said to myself "ha ha ", "who cares so what everyone knows. (cognitive-behavioral therapy for the win)

this one lady had to get up out of chair and said "jesus christ" told a coworker about my skin. I told myself who cares, I made you get off of your chair, haha. do what you want, took a deep breath calmed myself down and said so what! who cares what the say!

I was walking down the hallway some girl said "annoying out loud when she walked past me. I laughed and said so what who cares, I cant control other people, I can only control myself. and who cares.

if you keep doing this simple concept, any negative comments will automatically trigger a "so what" "who cares," calm yourself, why do I care what they think? why would I let them affect me, nothing I can do,
