Swiching from Neutrogena to BP gel

I've been using Neutrogena on the spot for a while for the regimen, but the tube ran out so I ordered some BP gel. I read that when first starting BP gel, it's normal for your skin to get red, itchy, and irritated, and also might break out a bit more at first. Since I've already been using on the spot, will I still get those effects or should my skin already be used to the benzoyl peroxide?

Just wondering, if anyone else used another kind of BP in the regimen before getting the gel maybe they'll know? Thanks!

Hi SeattleGirl.

I had the same situation.

I was using ProActiv's BP for a year, and just got my CSR Gel.

I've used it twice, and it really irritates/reddens the skin.

It's because of the new "preservatives", mainly the potassium sorbate.

This is a salty preservative, known for it's irritating effect.

I'm going to finish my ProActiv, then start off again slowly with the CSR Gel. Very small amounts, then work my way up.....hopefully it's just temporary.

for most people the transition is uneventful. But for some, there seems to be a readjustment period, so just use a little bit your first time, and see how your skin reacts is my advice.
