16 year old school boy's 40MG Roaccutane Log *New*

Recommended Posts

Well first of all I'll just introduce myself. My name is Sebastian, I am 16 and come from Australia. I have had pimples for around 3-4 years but untill recently (3 months ago) it developed into acne on my cheeks where I never used to have acne (Yeah I know how disgusting, especially if you want to be an actor/model)

So anyway I decided to finally go on Roaccutane, despite reading all the horrible stories people are posting on the internet. I am worried and scared of the side effects I can have from the drug, but seriously the best thing you can do is stop

Day 1: I went to a skin specialist who Iv'e actually seen on TV a few times (She looked plastic) and she was like yada yada yada, here are the drugs, the best option for clear skin, you dont want scaring blah bleh. She prescribed 20mg, two times a day for 6 months (Which I doubt I need to take them for that long) . I have decided not to get blood test because I have a fear of needles, plus I think this is the low dose right? So I went home and took my first tablets expecting for my skin to turn into dry scales and flake off and for everything else to go wrong, supprize supprize nothing.

Day 2: I woke up in the morning with no difference except that my skin felt more oily. Then after taking one 20mg for the morning, a few hours later my lips felt abit dry, I used some chap stick from the free roaccutane care pack they give out which is pretty cool and it went away.

Day 3: My skin feel's even more oily, I feel less dehydrated then when I started and a few small pimples brake out, no different in the general appearance of my acne. I even considerd taking 3 of the 20mg a day to make it 60mg to get it started (crazy I know)

Day 4: Which is tonight. I have had no side effects, no dryness, no dehydration and anything else. My skin remains the same, more balanced then yesterday with the oil and I actually asked my mum if they roaccutne was strong enough or if I need to take them both at the same time? I am expecting for a big break out due to what Iv'e read from everyone soon though, I just hope it's not on an important date.

Thank-you for reading my short ass log, but if you're a teenager like me and is frustrated by your acne, but scared of roaccutanes side efftects, then keep on reading my logs because I can be the test person for you (even though everyone has different effects)

20 MG's a day won't do much of an initial breakout. I had 40 mgs a day and wasn't breaking out much and then once i got bumped to 80mgs... that was the killer..

You must have pretty mild acne if you're only prescribed 20 mgs... Don't worry, the dryness will come after one week or so. First few days are oilier as your oil glands are overworking to make up for the dryness...

Thanks Ac3 but I'm actually on 40mg's a day, my Acne has never been that bad.

Day 5: Nothing different agian, no side effect's nothing. Today I took the two 20mg's only a few hours apart to see if they would have a stonger effect.

Don't worry anyone can feel free to ask and talk about what they want in my thread's even if it's offtopic! lol!

Well since your doing 60 on some days wantclearskinforever, I think you're going to breakout pretty bad for one week, and then they will all heal and become smooth and clear from what I've read.

Also Iv'e read alot and my skin specialist said it's better not to use any toners or anything to fight acne because your skin will be more dry and the roaccutane is better used naturally with products to moiturize.

Goodluck everyone

Day 6: No differences agian except that the whiteheads from my nose seem to be coming out. My muscles in my back were abit sore but I cant blame that to the drug if I worked out.

Day 7: Oh man my back is just killing me! My lower back feel's like it's been bruised and bashed for some reason and even worse it hurts more lieing down and bending over...weird! It's bareable and still worth clear skin, as for my skin, I'm slowly starting to break out in places I never had pimples in the first place!

yeah i've been on accutane [40 mg a day] since dec. 30 and I'm getting bone pain too. is this somethign to be worried about? it says on the claravis pack "stop taking claravis and call your doctor if you develop any of the problems on this list or any unusual or severe problems" and "bone or muscle pain" is on the list.... but on the paper insert, it says just to 'tell your doctor if you get: back pain, joint pain"

i feel like this is a pretty common problem but is it a reason for my doc to take me off it?

I dont know but it's really fucked, my back and knee hurt so bad I couldnt get out of bed.

Day 8: I went to sleep with back pain and woke up with alittle less of it. My acne remains the same...seem's like the last part the drug targets is my face...

About the doctor, unless it get's REALLY BAD I wouldn't worry to much since it's commen right?
