differin really helped my cloggeg pores espcially on my nose..there were a lot of balck spots but after not even a week they are gone but thats the least of my worries...I want it to work on my chin and cheeks and get rif od the redness hopefully in time they will...I use differin in morning and clidoxly(bezolyle peroxide) at night with "effclair" face wash by roche..that combo is helping my cloggeg pores,...

The nose is one of the most oily places on the face and unfortunately is prone to very stubborn blackheads. Only once has my nose been clear of blackheads and that was due to using isotrexin topical and then 1/2 hour later putting benzoyl peroxide on. It absolutely killed my blackheads, unfortunately it was too harsh a regime for my skin and after a week my face felt like it was on fire. I've been on differin for 18 months now and unfortunately its done nothing for blackheads on my nose

I too suffer from nose blackheads, as Ben says unfortunately the nose is the oiliest part of the face and hence seems to accumulate blocked pores or blackheads.

A topical retinoid such as Differin, Retin A or tazorac is the way to go but it can take months to see an improvement.

Does your daughter have a very oily nose?

Ben have you found anything that really helps with nose blackheads?

Well, as I said above, the only thing that ever cleared me of nose blackheads was isotrexin and BP applied fairly closely together. I looked in the mirror after a few days and the blackheads were 100% gone, it was kinda weird to see as they had never been clear since I hit puberty! But the isotrexin/BP started to burn like hell after about 10 days so I had to stop. Nothing else has ever come close to getting rid of them unfortunately.

hi thank you for your replies, my daughter does not have a very oily nose she has perfect skin apart from the blocked pores on her nose and about 6 on her chin, she is 13 and has been on various things including antibiotics for 3 months, duac once daily gel, freederm, skinoren, and a few more i cant even remember !! i have been told different things by people moisturise/dont moisturise, use exfoliants,it is all so confusing as i dont want to use products to make matters worse :( i dont know how long it takes before the differin takes to work i will give it one more month and go back to doctors if there is no improvement.

This is my 5th week on differin, so far I hate it because I've never had worse acne. But I'm going to stick to the 8-12 weeks and see what happens. I was wondering what lotions people used while on differin? And if the differin actually worked in the end for you, and if so how well? I had very mild acne to start with, and since starting it's as bad as my brothers when he was put on accutane...but I want to see what this does first.

I started using Differin gel a few weeks ago. I didn't see a dramatic worsening of my acne, although breakouts started to increase. I am going to wait out the period where it becomes worse before better. Has anyone ever had Differin worsen their acne but then clear it up nicely?? I use Differin at night time, with Cetaphil as a cleanser. My skin has become a little more sensitive but is handling the harshness of Differin quite nicely. Does anyone know after how long I can expect my acne to clear up??

does EVERYBODY break out on Differin? I mean theres got to be some people who dont breakout right? So far its day 4 or 5 on Differin and all i'm experiencing is dryness but I did have 2 new pimples (i'm attributing that to my day in New York yesterday and my horrible eating habits lately because of the holiday). I apply the Differin gel at night and then put milk on top of it (because it soothes the skin). I know its gross to put milk on your face but I think it really helps (also my derm told me that milk soothes the skin so thats how I got to using it).

As for blackheads, I dont apply the Differin on my nose because my nose is so dry to begin with and I dont want to make it worse.

Rozy, how does a facial go and do you thin it is ok for males to have them?

At what point do they do blackhead extractions and how does that go?

ok well first thing you need is a GOOD facialist b/c then u could be screwed. they usually first clean your face, then steam, then do the extraction by pushing them out, then they buzz this machine to kill bacteria(doesnt hurt at all) and then they put a mask on and moisturize. ya they are good for guys also. i love my lady i just went today i go every 3-4 weeks. some people just pretend to push stuff out and u end up with paying for nothing so beware talk to people who have gone to that person before u book and appt. just anywhere. do u live in nyc? if so i can recommend someone. just to warn u you will be quite red once u r done but will subside after a day, but u might have slight breakout afterward but its worht it especially for blackheads.

well today my skin looks worse than it did yesterday...so this initial breakout might be kicking in now (its been almost a week since I started Differin). I dont have huge pimples but my skin looks dull and more bumpy. I just hope that my skin doesnt get terrible and that i can still cover it up with makeup without it looking unpresentable. I'm on vacation right now which is good and hopefully in a month my skin will improve.
