Breakout after Full Accutane Course?

I don't know what to do anymore. I finally finished that dose of accutane after being on it for 7months at 40mg/day. Yet 3 weeks after i've stopped taking it...I'm already breaking out again. I don't get it I really don't. My derm says its just because of summer but I doubt it. Any suggestions? I think at this point I've tried everything, I guess the next thing on the list is the dan's reg. I hope this is just a temporary thing, and if it is I'll get back to you guys. But after being on accutane for that long this is very disappointing although I still find that being clear for those 3 months was well worth it. Perhaps another round of accutane? I'm guessing its to soon for that though... Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thnx guys.

How severe is it? From what I've read, a lot of people still get minor breakouts once in a while.

Of course, there are the others that relapse so it depends, but you should wait a little and see if it goes away or stays light. Another round of accutane is possible but I think doctors generally wait at least 2 months before starting it again.

Yep, accutane can affect your skins healing process, and make you more prone to scarring. It can be permanent, but usually goes away after a year (apparently).

I just finished a whole accutane course of 6 months 60mg. It was about two weeks ago I stopped taking it, but I already had two breakouts near my mouth area, and the kind that really hurt...its really frustrating, I had to put up with all the back pains during accutane and now it looks like it was useless.

I guess the jawline thing is common, I'm breaking out there and by my nose this really sucks. As far as side effects from accutane go, my lips are back to normal, but I still have back and joint pains, which are getting less and less severe, but i'm willing to put up w/ them to stay clear arrr. This really sucks. I started out w/ medium light acne, and I guess thats my fate again? Has anyone had a breakout after accutane and then it cleared up again? Is there still hope? ](*,)

I can't believe this all the people i've talked to (doctors, dematologists) have said that acne never comes back after accutane, what a load of bull.

i was on accutane 2x and still have been breaking out after 6 months, now i'm on septra and that seems to be doing the trick without the side effects of accutane, which sucked

Some derms will do anything to put people on accutane. Even as stooping so low as to say "I've taken accutane and look at me."

I was hell bent on not taking it 5 yrs ago when i saw 3 different specialists. They had the same thing in common, that they'd all taken accutane before. Utter rubbish.

Well, when I started this post I figured I would give dan's regim a try and to tell you honestly things are looking better. I started out full force because hey wth I was used to the dryness of accutane why not bp? Overall in just 3 days its looking better, so i guess I'm just gonna continue this to prevent new ones. O, and I'm adding cleocin solution to the regimin also if I didnt say it already. We'll see how it goes in a week or two. But seriously accutane sucks. It does work wonders but its only TEMPORARY, why can't people just admit that. I wanna hear from someone whos acne never came back after a course of accutane. Don't think ive met one yet. I wonder why people can't find cures to these things like the common cold, acne, etc? Maybe they're paid off so the pharmacuticals (can't spell for my life) can make more money off of "temporary cures"? I dunno why but that just popped up in my head. Well off to bed... Wheres all the old people on this board? All i remember is Jay, whred mercer go???

Well I have more problems than the occasional breakout's after being on accutane. I was on it for about 7 months. Possibly 8. I didn't even have severe ance, i mean it was definatly worse than a breakout but i'd say it was about a 6/10. 10 being hte worst. Anyhow i figured the chapped lips, dry skin, other side's were worth it. However now i'm working 40 hours a week and having to go to work with pretty bad breakouts. They usually happen around my upper jaw line/cheek areas. Pretty ridicuous. I honeslty believe you have to get to bed before 12, and get into a regular sleep schedule to get rid of it completely, because i do have weeks it is really clear.

anyhow my other problem really makes the ance problem small. it's my nose............it has dried out since being on this stuff, to the pint that it hurts every second of the day. I've basically just gotten use to it, i visited a specialist and everything. I tried saline spray, everything. it's pretty horrible. anyone else have this problem with their nose just dryed out/killing them??????? it's like a sticky/dry feeling and there has to be someone who can help.

take care

Yep came back for me as well but milder than before and after 5 months.

I'm suprised by how many ppl are on here now post tane. I think the statistics for accutane need to changed slightly.

Listen people just because it didn't work on us, it doesn't mean others are having the same problem. I know what it's like if it doesn't work on you it's shit, but let's face it it's still the most effective treatment out there and is a miracle drug! I know more then a dozen of people who took tane and are clear only 2 people relapsed and the second time it cured them. My uncle took it at 19 and he is 31 now and still nice skin, except he is getting old and getting wrinkles lol. First time it's 60% cure and the second 90%. Then the other 10% do round 3 or 4! It's just how lucky or unfortuante you get!

I'm off 3 weeks now, and something isn't right either, but I'll see in a few months or so and I was on accutane for 8 months!

And remember, this forum is for accutane failures, so here accutane is like a 20% cure even after 3 courses lol. And you also read about horrible side effects here which make you think that accutane is a suicide mission.

i think after i stopped taking roaccutane i get more paranoid about break outs, :S I thought i had a breakout but it wasn't a breakout this is about a month after I finished taking... I did get a few small tiny spots, but they were the result of dead skin left over from roaccutane rather than any oil... (my face was too dry for oil..) now I've found that using a simple salacylic acid face wash and moisturiser is enough to keep me acne free...

though shaving is creating huuugungous red marks whenever i shave and my red marks get sooo inflamed when I shave... so much so that I can't shave properly :S though my skin still feels amazing in comparison to what it did :S even if it's stubble and unshaven it's still the smoothest it's ever been lol...

My derm in Belgium tells me that there is no point in taking accu for less than 9 months if you want to get rid of the pimples for ever. Experience has shown that 6 or less months is simple not enough to keep them away for good and then you will need to do another 6, she says.

I took accutane from February of 2006-July 2006, so about 6 months on 80mg a day. It took untill about the 4th month until I saw good results. By the time I was done I have very little acne left and from that point on I had very few pimples through september. In the end of september and beginning of october I started noticing an increase in acne. Then suddenly 2 weeks ago it came back. Now I have moderate acne on my cheeks and jaw line just like before. It's definitly not as severe as before accutane, but its still bad and I'm not sure if its going to get any better. I think that it will only get worse. I'm in college now and I can't see a derm until Thanksgiving. Even though Accutane hasnt prevented a reacurrance in my acne, I am still very glad I used it. Those 3 months without acne was absolutley worth it. And if I am allowed to take accutane again I definitly would. I want clear skin and I don't know how to get it. Wy can't we all just be clear??
