whats everyones opinion on hibicleans?

Recommended Posts

I'm not using hibiclens, but I'm using a 'wound wash' with the same active ingredient: Chlorhexidine gluconate (basically the woundwash is hibiclens prediluted but you don't need to wash it off).

It seems to prevent formation of new spots reasonably well. YMMV.

Chlorhexidine is not actually technically an antibiotic, it's antibacterial. Generally bacteria may have a harder time developing resistance to antibacterials, but they are normally less effective to start with.

There have been many reports of skin irritation with Chlorhexidine and it can cause blindness or deafness if you get it in your eyes or ears, particularly if it's not diluted. Otherwise it's pretty safe, and it's in mouthwashes (and even contact lens solutions bizarrely enough; albeit in minute quantities).
