After 16 years, I've found a regimen that works

Recommended Posts

I'm a 32 year-old-male who has struggled with acne for 16 years. In fact, I can say it pretty much destroyed my life (do a search of my past posts). But finally! Finally! I'm breakout free! I should be happy, but I want to rip my hair out because if I figured this out 16, 14, 12 years ago, my life would've been so much different. Anyway here it is:

MORNING:

1) Wash with Cetaphil or its generic.

2) Apply TI-Screen sunblock gel.

This sunblock is non-greasy and contains Parsol which is the most effective blocker of aging UVA rays (note: sunblocks without zinc, titanium, or Parsol will not effectively block UVA rays).

3) Apply a thin layer of Dan's BP 2.5 %.

4) Slather on some Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

It may make you look initially oily, but don't worry, it'll absorb.

NIGHT:

1) Wash with Cetaphil or its generic offshoot.

2) Apply a mild to moderate strength retinoid (I use Tazorac .05. Personally, I think Retin-A, Differin and Tazorac are all interchangable).

3) Wait about 15 minutes, then apply another layer of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

I haven't broken out since I started this. Unfortunately, I still have the emotional scars of acne, so hopefully, they'll fade over time.
