Do private Derms in the UK

Recommended Posts

The derm. I saw privately was the same one I saw on the NHS. Their policy tends to be to only prescribe Accutane for serious and not mild cases. You might find a derm. privately who could possibly prescribe it although don't assume going down this route, even though you are paying, is guaranteed to get you Accutane.

I am currently seeing a private dermatologist in the UK and he is the same one on the NHS I only went private to speed up the process. They won't prescribe you roaccutane just because you are paying. What you need to do is go to your GP and discuss the problem and they will refer you to a NHS or Private dermatologist (your choice). However, they will only do this if you have already tried other methods of acne treatment such as topical treatments, pill if your female, and antibiotics.

When my acne was pretty mild the derm at my NHS hospital wanted to put me on it straight away but I said "No" as my acne had cleared up a lot during my 13 week wait to see him. SInce then my acnes come back and I went to see a pvt derm and she wouldnt put me on it straight away. I'm still waiting now but thats down to blood tests going wrong etc
