Proactiv/Regimen Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello from a new member. I am only just starting the regimen, and have a question or two before I make any mistakes.

I have just been sent some 'Proactiv Solution'. I know it isn't the most recommended system on this board but I am not paying for it, so I thought I'd give it a go. I have not used any products containing benzoyl peroxide before.

If I am following the regimen, then should I use the cleanser in the first step, and then the repairing gel afterwards? Both these products contain bp, so I'm not sure if that will be a bit of an overload. I'm thinking of using either the cleanser on it's own, or another gentle bp-free cleanser, with the gel.

My second question,

If you are new to benzoyl peroxide, it is extremely important that you start with a small amount of benzoyl peroxide to prevent uncomfortable dryness and peeling.

First off, bp does not bleach the skin, but will bleach fabrics and hair.

The reason why the Proactiv cleanser is not recommended to use with Dan's regimen is that it is grainy and irritating. Dan's regimen is focused around being super gentle to your skin. So, that being said, the proactiv repair gel can be used, it is just fine, but start with a small amount and gradually work your way up to a full dosage over a few weeks time.

You can use the repairing lotion, but I suggest getting yourself a gentler cleanser, and find one of the recommended moisturizers to counteract the dryness you will experience upon starting bp.

good luck.
